The black plastic definitely takes on a darker color and shine from its previous look. What I don't like about rain is what happens when it's wet. For testing, I attached it to the top rails of my silverado bed for a couple of weeks. My old ones were fading, so I wanted to see what it would do for them. In my opinion, it did a great job making the rails look good. It rained a few days after that. My truck had streaks running down the side under the rails and I noticed them after a while. My truck seemed to have had dirt wash off the rails and down the side. There was nothing good about it. After washing it again the next day, I was delighted to find it had come off the side of my truck. Using this stuff may be fine if you are detailing an engine bay, or some place where water is not so important. Even though I wanted to put it on the exterior of my truck, I decided not to do so.
This product did a great job taking care of my year old F150.
