Questions & Answers
Yes, it is adaptable. On my Ford F150, I recently installed Bushwacker fender flares and used this tape underneath them. It flexes well and works well.
That's precisely what I did with it. It's a little pricey if you need to cover a large area, but it does a fantastic job. It is extremely long-lasting and does not peel. The only problem is that in certain lights, you can see it.
Yes, I did use it on satin chrome, and the difference was noticeable.
For this product to adhere properly, the surface must be ULTRA ULTRA ULTRA smooth; otherwise, I'm afraid it will just peel and fall off over time. High quality clear contact paper could be an alternative??
Selected User Reviews For VViViD 3M Clear Hood and Trunk Edge Sealer Paint Surface Protection Tape Roll (.5 Inch x 3ft 2 roll Pack)
Buyers should be aware that they are purchasing the trim from two ends of a roll of Vvivid PPF. The seller is attempting to recoup some of the costs associated with the manufacturing process. That's why other users have mentioned the rough edges in their feedback. While they can be used, the seller should disclose this and drastically reduce the price rather than treating the product as regular inventory.
I just got my edge seal tape, and it looks like it was cut from scrap material, has a jagged edge, and was shipped without any protection inside a bubble envelope. As a fine edge tape for vinyl wraps, this tape is completely useless. I yanked some material back, and the tape edge isn't even close to being clean. It will be returned because I am unable to use it for my installation. It appears that this is a common occurrence. This might work for gift wrapping, but not for finishing vinyl wraps.
This product is very effective, and I've ordered it from 3M in the past. This roll of 1/2 Edge Sealer, on the other hand, is clearly cut from a larger roll, and not very well. The edge is jagged, and there are pieces of tape along the edge that come loose and must be removed after application. When compared to the same product from 3M, this is a huge letdown.
Unlike the pictures in the description, which showed factory 3M rolls, what I got was a single flimsy paper core wrapped in two 3ft strips that almost disintegrated during handling. It was clearly cut off of a larger roll, as others have pointed out, and the cutting process has embedded cardboard dust along the cut-line. edge. Thankfully, I was only using this tape to secure a tucked-under vinyl edge on a speaker cabinet wrap, so it didn't show up too much - It was primarily for the purpose of preventing it from pulling up. br>br>If I had purchased this for my car, I would have had to return it because it was unusable. The tape is great, but the way it's cut is filthy, defeating the purpose of using a "virtually invisible" clear edge tape in the first place. Plus, I'm curious about the impact of the cardboard fiber embedded on the leading edge on the tape's durability when used as intended in an outdoor automotive environment.
Installed, it appears to be a disaster. I'm not sure who's putting this on their cars, but the positive reviews are VERY deceiving.
Factory-cut widths are not available. When applied to glass or auto bodies, rough edges result in a poor finished edge. If you need a clean line, it's probably better to buy from 3M or another distributor. br>br>Will adhere (1 star because it isn't supposed to be easy to remove) and go on clear like it should, with the exception that a rough edge will be visible in unconcealed places.
Just a smidgeon of raggedness around the edges. This is a very high-quality self-help book. It's a self-healing clear vinyl tape that's perfect for door edge guards. It safeguards both you and the car you collide with. br>The only reason for the three-star rating is that the tape's edges are slightly ragged. I believe the adhesive has squeezed out around the edges. Perhaps it became warm in storage. In any case, it's crystal clear, adheres well, and the ragged edge/adhesive squeeze out can be cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol.
The film has been cut into small strips in an unprofessional manner. The cut isn't very nice; there are a lot of shavings on the edge, making it look unprofessional and unattractive. Save money by purchasing the original 3M film, which has been cut by 3M. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I had to go over everything again. As this one was looking very unprofessional, I decided to cover all four doors with film that I cut myself from a roll of film. Not only does this result in a subpar product, but it also forces you to spend more time and money to rectify the situation.
