Because Loctite anaerobic products cure in the absence of oxygen as well as the presence of active metal ions, it's common to use a primer on the surface of inactive metals like the ones mentioned to achieve a cure time comparable to that of an active metal like steel. However, the primer may not always be necessary, so it's always a good idea to test it out first.

It's a fantastic product that does exactly what it says on the tin. However, it contains some dangerous chemicals, so use caution. When using, use a P100 respirator and work in a well-ventilated area (don't make the same mistake I did!).
I was working on an old jet ski, and no matter what color thread lock I used or how well I cleaned the parts with acetone, I couldn't get the stainless steel bolts to stay in the aluminum engine. Fortunately, I came across this product before losing hope. Loctite thread locker, it appears, requires iron to activate and form a strong bond. My bolts would always shake out because stainless and aluminum are both non-active metals. I had a fantastic season on the water after I was able to use this primer and allow the bolts to cure.
This worked perfectly with Loctite 515 and Loctite 592. br>I used Acetone to clean the surface before spritzing it with this. Allow a few minutes for it to dry before applying the sealant. br>br>On non-porous surfaces like aluminum, this will activate the sealant. It'll also speed up the healing process. br> br>br>I recommend looking up the online data sheets for whatever Loctite product you're using because they have a lot of useful information about cure times and other things.
This is a complete waste of money! The loctite 515 gasket eliminator was still not cured after three days.
This stuff is hard to come by in my area, and I can't seem to find it.
This is a must-have. aids in the faster setting of Loctite.
, you'll need this product. It's a great cleaner that leaves no residue. It's worth noting that the can is quite small.
