Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this technique on a headlight?

Certainly if the glass in your headlights is smooth. Clean with soapy water, rinse, and apply 5 to 10 drops of Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo to lukewarm water. Fill a spray bottle halfway with water and shake it. Trace the headlight shape onto 3m tape and cut it out. Peel the film, spray the film, and keep your headlights on the tips of your fingers because this stuff is sticky. It's best not to touch it all over because it'll leave prints. Put it on and then use the tool to pop all of the bubbles. If bubbles appear, simply peel them off and re-spray the area. Best wishes to you. It's simple, but make sure you get the light's shape right. I wrote it because I wish someone had done it for me.

What exactly is the purpose of the Velcro?

When smoothing out the Vinyl, you wrap the velcro around the squeegie to protect it from damage.

Is it possible to use this on a lens to protect it from scratches while maintaining clear vision?

Only if that lens isn't important to you! It's a vehicle accessory, after all!

Could this be used to coat the nameplates on a perpetual trophy with a protective coating? It would have to be removable at some point in order to be engraved. ?

It's clear and thick, and I use it to keep the paint on my truck protected.

Stickers and decals for HOV vehicles are ideal
5/5

It was exactly what I was looking for. This was a hack that I used to get California HOV stickers on my car. Apply the stickers to the 3M film, then cut it to the size of the decals' outline. As a result, a semi-permanent solution was possible. install for the long run When decals are removed, they will not disintegrate or leave a residue on the surface.

Bike security that you can make yourself I used this to protect my carbon mountain bike frame, and after a few rides, I'm happy with the results
5/5

I've seen "bike protection kits" for two bikes. This stuff cuts easily, is probably thick enough for most small rocks thrown by the front tire, and is practically invisible, except for a few bubbles from me being impatient putting it on, and costs three times as much. I couldn't have asked for a better solution.

Using a lot of soap and water, you'll be done in no time
5/5

It's a piece of cake to install once you know to keep a soapy water mixture on hand and spray it EVERYWHERE. With the help of the included squeegee and a clean microfiber cloth, you'll have a perfect clear bra wherever you need it in no time. Take your time with corners and sharp bends; it'll eventually grip the corner without the use of a heat gun; all we have to do now is squeegee the excess water out of the way so that it grips the corner.

This item is fantastic! To get a feel for it, I recommend doing a warm-up run first
5/5

This item is fantastic! br>To get a feel for how to use it, I recommend doing a practice run first. It's simple once you understand how to get the best outcomes.
Tip! Shake a few drops of dish soap into a spray bottle of water, then mist the surface to apply and the sticky side of the tape. This makes applying and removing bubbles much easier, with professional results.

I didn't use it for the typical application, but it worked well to protect my TV stand so far
5/5

I recently purchased a new TV stand, and one of my dogs enjoys placing his paws on it and barking at the dogs on television. This is something I bought to put on the top edge/corner of the table to protect it until we can teach him to stop. br>br>This stand is of decent quality particle board with a slightly textured wood finish (if such a thing exists). It adhered well, and wrapping it around the edge and down the front, where his paws slide off, was not difficult. I started with the top side to ensure everything was even before moving on. Because the surface was slightly textured, the bubbles came out more easily than usual. The underside corner was the most difficult part, but since it isn't visible in normal use, I didn't worry too much about it looking nice. br>br>I tested a spot to make sure the vinyl wouldn't damage the stand; the vinyl picks up a little of the finish as it peels away, but it didn't leave any visible damage. Because it's shiny, it's best viewed from the side. My wife, on the other hand, didn't notice it for two days. br>br>I've included some pictures for reference, and I'll keep you updated if anything happens in the future. br>br>Ask any questions you may have. Please leave a comment to let me know if you found this review useful.

It's a fantastic product for protecting the paint on your car! This product accomplishes exactly what it was designed to do
5/5

My car has a roof rack, which I had to purchase from a third party. The rack itself is held in place by clips that are hidden beneath the door jam at the top of the door. So I wanted to add another layer of protection to keep the clips from scratching my paint (you can just see the vinyl beneath the clip in the photo below). It took me a couple of tries to get it just right with no air bubbles, but it was fairly simple to apply. Although there are no instructions, I have seen tints applied, and they use soap and water before applying the film to the car. I used Windex to remove any air bubbles before applying the Vinyl. It's a lot easier with the liquid underneath it. It came out beautifully, and unless you are looking for it, you will not notice it. It's obvious to me that it's there, but others aren't aware of it until I point it out. Overall, it's straightforward, simple to implement, and accomplishes its goal!.

IT WORKS PERFECTLY
5/5

Used on the liftgate and bumper of a brand new white 2018 Equinox. Below the license plate to the deck edge is a small 9" X 6" strip where hand pushes to close the liftgate (non-electric). powered); and the remaining 39" X 6" across bumper, which could scratch the finish if cargo is loaded. After watching a few YouTube videos, I decided that using an alcohol/water mix as a cleaner and a baby shampoo/water mix for vinyl positioning was the most logical method. Even on a new vehicle, meticulous cleaning is required because even the tiniest details will be magnified in the final finish. Lift, clean/flush, and reapply the film if a dot appears. Because vinyl is tough and a razor can scratch paint, trimming is best done with scissors. Patience and persistence are required when working film over complex body curves to overcome bubbles and wrinkles. A wider, more flexible squeegee (body putty spreader) is required, as repeatedly working areas is done to coax film into submission. However, the following day, several small "fisheyes" appeared under the liftgate film after all of the work was completed. Only a close examination under bright light will reveal them. From a distance of two steps, the installation is undetectable.
