With a rubber gasket, a fixture can be sealed. As per the instructions, followed the steps to a tee. Once a leak has been detected in the gasket, it is almost completely pushed out of the joint. There is no mention in the instructions that the product needs to cure before it is tightened.

There is no fireproofing. In the past, local versions of this were available. It was good for us and we liked it a lot. Although it is not fireproof, it is pretty good for MOST applications requiring medium to high temperatures.
