Is it possible to use this (sparingly) under the cylinder base gasket on an Xr650L where the cases meet?

Yes, to put it simply. It was used to seal the cylinders to the case on a few Corvair flight engines. Corvair cylinders are separate assemblies with no gasket at the base, which is notorious for leaking oil. This is incredible.

This is the most effective sealant currently available. It retains some flexibility but is impervious to oil and fuel. It's fantastic, and it's far superior to silicone.
