Questions & Answers
It is not recommended to use it, or any other liquid gasket material on carburetor
Using it to seal the plastic spout onto a mounting ring for a 5 gallon gas can was a good idea. After the paint had dried for about a week, I cracked it open. You're doing a great job!

A hardening substance such as JB weld is not used here. In case of need, the parts can be easily taken apart and put back together again. don't have personal experience with this product, so I cannot provide a true opinion. Just covering the crack in your quick connect line will not be adequate.
I have only used this product once so I can't voice an opinion. Therefore, no leak has been found so far. It would certainly not strengthen the crack, but from a mechanical standpoint, it doesn't seem to be a good application for your problem.
It was mounted at the front of the gas tank on my Jeep XJ and it had a small leak coming from one of the front electrical connections. Before I spent the money on a new assembly, I thought I'd have a try at this rather than spend the money on one. *Please note that this stuff does not fully dry and it is recommended you allow it to sit for a minute before connecting your pieces. There is more to this gasket manufacturer than meets the eye.
The seal started leaking after half an hour even though I followed the instructions to the letter. Due to the mounting surfaces not being perfectly flat, I am giving the manufacturer the benefit of the doubt (thus two stars instead of one). Although this sealant is highly durable, I wouldn't recommend using it in applications where it will be exposed to fuel on a regular basis.
The material does not dry after it has been spread on the surface you just have to wait 15 minutes or so for the solvent to evaporate, but the material does not dry out completely. Despite its tacky appearance, it will remain so Rubber cement is similar to this.
You can use it as a sealant, but it isn't like glue. The sealer must be smeared on the gasket faces, the sealer should be allowed to flash for a minute or two, then the gasket must be inserted.
Rather than an OEM petcock, I upgraded to a Pingel petcock on my motorcycle. There was only a small amount of this left over, so I used it on the gasket and the bolts holding the mounting bracket in place. You assemble the parts then. It has been a month since the parts were installed in the tank, and so far, no leaks have occurred. The results of the same would have given it a 5 star rating if I had long-term results.
There was a malfunction, and Permatex became gooey and useless.
