That's how I put it to work for me. All is well now that I've applied a thin film to the metal surface to fill in scratches and a thin coat to the paper gasket.
Yes, but for best results, leave it to cure overnight. If you don't have time, make sure everything is completely dry and leave it to sit for a few hours without getting wet.
I put coolant in after waiting about an hour and drove it after another 12 hours.

The material was simple to work with right out of the tube, and it easily went on in a small bead. I attached the housing to the manifold with finger tightening bolts, then returned an hour later to tighten them up to spec. I flushed and filled my coolant 24 hours later, then drove the car for a couple of hours straight on a hot day, and everything was fine - There wasn't even a smidgeon of a leak. I was hesitant to use a "new school" engine on an old school engine, but it turned out to be a great combination.
It was also useful for sealing a drain fitting in my bathtub. Allow for a day of rest before using (as directed), and it will be fantastic! It only takes a little to make a big difference. You've used too much if it's dripping down the sides of the two pieces you're joining.
This was used to repair my gas furnace's (new) leaky inductor blower casing. A lot of it was snuck in. Assembled the two sides of the housing, making sure there were no gaps in coverage. I let it cure for about 30 minutes, and now I have a perfect, long-lasting seal. br>br>Much more cost and time effective than returning the defective blower, ordering and installing a new one, waiting for reimbursement on the return, and so on.
This is great to keep in the garage because it arrived quickly. If you're like me and prefer to do your own work, this can save you time ordering parts online. There are a few things you can use this for if you don't have the correct gasket on hand, and the pictures should help you judge the size. You should be able to complete an engine rebuild with just one tube. There will be some left over. br>Thank you for making the transaction go so smoothly.
When I installed a new water pump, I used exactly one tube of this, along with the rubber ring gasket that came with it. It was just the right amount, and I'll most likely use it again when I install a water pump. I wasn't 100% sure about using this in conjunction with a rubber gasket after reading many opinions on the interwebs, but decided to give it a shot after reading many opinions on the interwebs I was glad I bought and used the Permatex 22071 after removing the factory water pump with rubber gasket and discovering the obvious residue of an RTV silicone substance.
It's exactly what I needed to ensure that the new pump I installed in my washer was properly sealed. At first, I attempted to use regular silicone but failed miserably. It's a case of simply finding the correct part for the job. It's a small tube, but it's more than adequate for the task at hand. Most importantly, my new pump no longer spits water all over the place when it pumps. ) It's well worth the money, and I can't say enough about how much I like it.
My pool pump/chlorinator had two compression fittings that needed to be replaced. They were experiencing a slow, steady leak. Hmmm? That's strange. This item was purchased to assist in the repair of a leak. It continues to leak. PS: I've been working in the plumbing industry. For the past 40 years, I've been doing home repairs. I'll give it another shot with a different product.
Great stuff, dries quickly, and has some flexibility for heat/cold cycles, far superior to regular rtv for water pumps and thermostat housings. Because it's a bright blue color, you'll be able to see where the gasket goes once it's in place.
