Questions & Answers

Can it be used with metallic paint or clear ?

In short, yes. This was used on Ford tuxedo black metallic paint after wet sanding a scratch and before polishing. It can be worked by hand as well.

What is the best way to use this ?

A sheet of acrylic that is made for the automotive industry should be hard enough to be used *br>Ask someone that works in auto body.

Is there something wrong with the product that's ?

If the product is applied with a DA polisher, could it be applied as a rotary rather than a DA?

It should not be used on a DA polisher as it was designed specifically for rotary buffers and may have issues or simply be ineffective when used on one. The M110 Ultra Pro Speed Compound is ideally suited for use with a DA, so you should really consider it if you need something similar.

The product is good, and the finish is good
4/5

The product is good, and the finish is good. As you see, some people are confused about the product's aggressiveness in comparison with other Meguiar's products and I thought perhaps I can shed some light on the subject. Without sounding too redundant, M85, M101, and M105 all accomplish the same thing. Among the three, its application is what makes the difference. By design, M85 is only intended to be used for rotary buffing. With foam application pads, a random orbital buffing system called M101 can be used. This M105 is designed to be used with random orbital buffing and microfiber
Try to remember this when searching for that next best compound a compound is only as good as the application it is put to so you have to find a balance between the two. Thanks for your kind words.

This has been a fave of mine This product has been used by me for a long time
5/5

Many body shop owners have now switched from 3m to Diamond Cut 2 after I recommended it to them at a distributor of automotive parts. My side business is painting cars and I always use this after sanding after color. It works great with a rotary buffer and doesn't gouge the surface. Despite its fast cutting, it doesn't create a lot of The following tip can help you when writing a book It is easy to get dry compound on your car surface if you just dab some fresh compound on the spot and rub it until it is loosened up. You can then buff the area. A brief update. My experience with this compound has been ruined. It does not cut like it used to and leaves an unsightly film on surfaces, I think 3M reformulated it so customers would utilize their more expensive brand. Now I use Norton Blue Ice, which is much more effective.

There may have been a need for one with a little more cut
3/5

My goal was to buff out water spots on a clear coat, and this product took a lot of use in order to remove them. Although the spots were removed, it took a lot of time buffing and rebuffing to get them out. What I expected from Maguires was not quite what I got.

The misspelling - The product is titled but a good gel coat for fiberglass that has oxidized
4/5

Like the previous reviewer, I also find this item to be faulty I think it has "85" instead of "80" in its title. The 85 is good because I had hoped to get an Since using this product to treat the oxidized gel for four years, I have used a full quart every year An old fiberglass boat now 12 years old gets a new coat of paint. A nice job is done by it. My power polisher is a full sized variable speed machine that I run slowly at about 2000 RPM Each time, start with a new wool bonnet, a light to medium pressure, and 3000 rpm. The '85' is too slow to use for hand polishing, you have to use a more aggressive traditional compound where you cannot get the power polisher into, then polish with '85' by hand to remove the marks to allow it to blend into I also like the fact that I do not need to wash the boat after polishing with soap and water like I would normally do, so I wipe off the residue with a cloth after dry. I then wax right after polishing without soap and water, which is great before working at the boat yard. It is our hope that this information will help you in.

The process was new to me but I found it to be rewarding
5/5

As I was cleaning some scratches from my truck, I noticed some surface damage. did not have any experience with auto body repair, so I was very wary of using sandpaper. I just used this product and an electric buffer instead. I was surprised by how well it worked, but it took a long time.

You can take a bad paint job and make it look MUCH better with it
5/5

Paints a crappy job and makes it look MUCH better after it is leveled. Uses a rotary buffer, which takes a little time. Rather than a random orbital, a rotary motion is better for this application. Then I use the rotary buffer to finish applying this product. I wet sand with 2000 grit, wipe clean with water, and then finish it with this product. There is a chance I will have to hit it several times, but each application seems to look better.

You're doing a great job! My first time trying this, and I am happy with the results

I could not get some areas of my car clean with normal washing, claying, etc. Nonetheless, this stuff made it easy to remove.
