You have an excellent question! Using this shampoo will create a better surface for your vehicle when washing it since it is pH neutral. There will still be water spotting, but it won't etch the surface as much as it used to, and it will be much harder for the water spots to become harmful and etch. In case of residual water spots, they will easily show up if "baked" by the sun. But using a premium soap will place a film on the surface, making it more difficult for them to show up. In my first wash of my new 2019 Ford Ranger truck this year, I used a premium car wash (Trinova Car Shampoo) that I had purchased on Amazon before I got My Jeep Wrangler appeared to be fine after the car wash (no water spots), so it looked fine. I don't think there is a better one. Although I have tried many manufacturers' products, this is the one I always come back to. This product stands head and shoulders above everything else I have tried whether I use the foam cannon or only two buckets.
