Questions & Answers

Are all sizes of buckets compatible with this?

Specially designed for Chemical Guy's 4, this grit guard is easy to install. The bucket is 5 gallons. There is a chance it won't fit perfectly in a 5 gallon bucket from the home store (it will stop about an inch or more from the bottom, and if you push it in hard, it will be hard to get out). For this I recommend using an empty drywall mud bucket, which has a capacity of 4 gallons. This bucket is approximately 5 gallons in size and the same size as the bucket Chemical Guy uses. Four of them are available for purchase. I paid about $12 for a 5 gallon bucket of drywall mud at a home store. Then it would be $00 It's 17 dollars for Chemical Guy. The bucket contains $0.00 of empty water.

In what way does the actual measurement differ? According to the product description, this is only for $15 buckets for chemical guys. There are some buckets that are narrower at the bottom as well. ?

I cannot see all the way to the bottom of the orange Home Depot bucket. I cannot see all the way to the bottom of There is about a 2 inch gap at the bottom of the bag. The bucket works in the same way, but the buckets are difficult to remove.

What are the advantages of this grit guard compared to a traditional one?

A dirttrap has cyclones under its bottom that help to ensure that dirt and debris has a place to sink. Since a cyclone is shaped this way, dirt cannot be forced back into the regular water by its structure. The grit guard of a modern home is typically shaped like a sewer grate, so the ground is free of rock and pebbles If anything is flowing or falling on your mitt, even if you wipe it off with the grit guard, it may stain.

A dirt grit from home depot won't fit in my 10" 5 gallon bucket because I have a bucket that holds 5 gallons. Exactly why is that the case? It doesn't matter how big you are, 10" is 10". ?

In order to fit in a 12'' bucket, the Dirt Trap has a 12'' diameter A diameter of 10 5/16 inches can be measured for this product.

Is not a candidate for any bucket other than This product DOES NOT fit into the traditional 12 inch buckets you find in big box stores or nearby paint stores - I tried 6 buckets in total and found NONE that this product fits into
3/5

I was thinking that perhaps the myth of the "traditional 12 inch bucket" is not true. There isn't much luck finding a $2 bucket anywhere that will work for their $15 bucket, but it fits their $15 bucket. Also, the dirt particles float up and get mixed with the "clean" water, essentially leaving them behind. As several other reviewers mentioned, I too had to cut my dirt trap to make it With the flush trim router bit, I achieved the look I wanted. My opinion is that the price is not worth it.

If you want to buy the older version of this dirt trap, I suggest you do so
3/5

Chemical Guys "improved" versions of these dirt traps are essentially the same product that they use in their regular versions The spec was designed so that consumers would be pressured to buy The buckets that Chemical Guys sell for $15+ won't fit these buckets.

I have attempted to use these enhanced cyclone traps on standard 5-foot traps, but they do not work It appears that the base of the bucket is too narrow to fit in the gallon buckets. As soon as a five-gallon bucket is full of water A slightly tilted bucket and a gallon bucket with a spout A dirty trap that has an insecure seal will break its seal and pop open, rendering it This dirt trap works with a wide array of 5-inch barbecue grills and is available for the same price as the older version. It's rated much better than the newer version and works well with rivals' grills. Buckets of five gallons. It is unfortunate that Chemical Guys did not offer the consumer options. As a result and because the Cyclone Dirt Trap works only with a limited range of products due to its new specs, I grade it a 3 out of 5 stars. A 4-star rating.

The quality control is poor and the marketing is dishonest
3/5

My decision to buy this guard was based on Despite the fact that the packaging and listing both market that it will fit standard 12 inch buckets, the design, as others have stated, cannot be fitted in either. My suspicion is that these guards are only meant to fit Chemical Guys' wash buckets, since the guards are about 1 inch thick. There are 5mm too many around the entire thing. There would seem to be some kind of marketing ploy to trick customers into buying In addition, a poor quality control process has occurred in the production of this product. The holes are not punched all the way through, leaving plastic behind. As a result, I made it functional and sized to fit standard buckets as I really like this design. My DIY tutorial for those of you who want to do it yourself My method of taking off the outer lip was to use 100 grit sandpaper and an electric sander. By sanding only until the outer surface of the first circle of holes is flat, you are essentially flattening the hole on the first surface. Following that, I polished it with 220 grit to make it nice and smooth (Picture There was a time before & after This follows (after). My new fitting is perfect, and I'm still able to pull it out with ease. As for the holes, I punched them with an ice pick to remove the excess plastic. My next step was to shave off the excess plastic on the electric sander with 220 grit. This process was repeated twice for the holes in order to get them completely cleaned out. As pictured above. It may be helpful to know this!.

It's a great product, but the quality control is terrible! Please click here

Washing your car and caring about preventing scratches while rinsing your sponge is an absolute must for people who own this product. There is a lot of dirt that is trapped inside the little cones, which keeps it down I just want to tell you that you should scrub the sponge against this product to ensure all the dirt is removed and it doesn't get stuck. One of the biggest problems I had with the product I received was that the holes in the cones still had leftover plastic in them. It is not a big deal because all that needs to be done is to use a lighter to melt it.

You've got to grind it out

To dry off my bucket, I poured out the water and flipped it upside down. For a picture of the crudookie left behind, please refer to the picture.

Put a zip tie on it to make it a great grit guard! It's great for washing the rinse bucket or a rim and having a grit guard for it It is simple to add a tire bucket it is also effective As expected, the system works
5/5

It is possible that you will need to modify your shampoo container for the fresh soap bucket With this in place, the bottom volume of water is not usable any more, so the ratios of water change a little. The following information should be noted & noted Consider these tips Due to its diameter, it is a tight fit in a 5 gallon bucket, and it deforms a little in the process. In most cases, it keeps it in place, but removing it can be tricky. However, make sure you zip up your study before ever putting it in Make a loop by tying it and running it through two of the holes on the edge. Now, if they fit tightly, you can pull them out of the bucket using the handle. If it could be designed or incorporated into a future version, it would be wonderful.

I think the idea is good, but the execution is at best fair (updated 10 Jul The 10Jul 2016 update is now available By trimming the size with a good sharp razor blade, this was able to fit in all of my buckets to hold 5 gallons
3/5

To serve as a reference, here are some photos. It was just flipped upside down on a razorblade and then I was able to trim it All the way around, I had to take off about 1mm. As well as the two short openings in the center, I drilled a couple of holes. As a result, I was able to tie a wire through the new hole. With this new system, I no longer need to turn the bucket over to get the insert out. Despite its hard exterior, the plastic is very pliable and soft. It took roughly 10 minutes for the issue to be resolved. As others have mentioned, it will not fit all the way down if the sides of your 5 gallon bucket are tapered at all (most buckets you get from Lowe's or Home Depot have tapered sides so you can stack them In case I am unclear, I ALSO have the Grit Guard and it fits all of my 5 gallon It is my fault that I threw away the packaging before I verified and was unable to return the item. I'm going to have to modify the diameter to make it This is not what I was expecting. We were fortunate that the cost wasn't too high.

I really like this product and it fits in my I found the construction to be very solid and not at all flimsy
5/5

Best of all, it fits properly all the way down to the bottom of my HD bucket, with 1/4" clearance all the way around (perhaps west coast buckets are larger).
