Yes, the scissors have a screw on them, and I assume it's for adjusting the cut tightness or looseness. I've bought several pairs of Westcott Scissors over the years, both for home and business use, and I've never had a problem with them. Bottom line: I adore Westcott Scissors, and I believe you will not be disappointed if you give them a try!

I keep scissors in my kitchen drawers, desk drawers, nightstands, bathrooms, garages, storage sheds, and even my Winnebago - I'm sure you get the idea. These appeared to be the ideal answer - Well, it's been three months and they're still working fine, but I recently discovered that the plastic covering the handle behind the hinge on the pair in the kitchen drawer is broken. I'm not sure how it happened, but I don't remember cutting anything other than the plastic bags in which my prescriptions are packaged and similar materials. There will be no cardboard, rugs, or sheet metal used in this project. Nothing but light-weight materials that you could cut with a regular pair of scissors. I attempted to return them, but the Amazon website informed me that they were no longer returnable. Next time, I'll try something different. br>br>3/12/17 Update: This morning, my wife tried to trim some threads on the edge of an old dish towel, and the plastic holding the pivot screw snapped, shattering the second pair of scissors into two pieces. The plastic that holds the blade is also cracked, as you can see in the photo. I suppose the titanium blades would still work well for ice photos, but when was the last time you needed a pair?.
When I first started using one of these - to sever some common plastic packaging - At the hinge, the blade broke off.
It is easily broken. Obviously, this is a problem, because when you come here to leave a review, you'll notice that many of the recent reviews are the same. The screw is only there for aesthetic purposes. It is glued to one side and encased in plastic on the other. It is low-cost and poorly constructed. When I was cutting paper, mine broke!.
The first time I used the blade, it snapped in half. I was let down. I'm returning the item for a refund.
It was only for a short period of time. A pair of my Dura Sharp (similar scissors) broke while cutting a plastic card; I've had them for years and they've never let me down.
The blade itself had broken. as if bits and pieces of it had broken off! Returned.
This is the third time I've ordered this brand of heavy-duty scissors, and it won't be the last. I enjoy writing product reviews to help other potential buyers understand what they're getting, but I never imagined I'd review a pair of scissors. They come in handy for a variety of tasks. I have one pair that I use exclusively for coupon cutting (3 years old and still as sharp as the day I bought them). I keep a pair in the kitchen for everything from breaking down boxes for recycling to opening those dreadful blister packs that everything comes in, as well as other plastic packaging. I also have a pair that I use to eat with. I've discovered that these are far superior to the expensive ones I bought from a culinary store for preparing and cutting food. Finally, I have a pair in my garage that have been beaten to a pulp but still work perfectly. They've never rusted, I've never sharpened them, and the molded handles are incredibly comfortable. I can't say enough about how wonderful they are. You also get a lifetime warranty (which I have yet to utilize). br>To summarize, if you're looking for the best pair of scissors money can buy, these are the ones to get.
This pair of scissors is a joke. When I was clipping a coupon, one pair snapped in half after less than six months. There was no response to three requests for replacements. The lifetime warranty is a load of nonsense because the scissors are poorly made. This is a business that is uninterested in its customers.
