As a newcomer to the world of wood carving, I had no idea where to start. I bought a lot of books and did a lot of research online, so I ordered a few different chisels to try out without going broke. The Mikisyo chisels are, without a doubt, the best chisels for carving and other wood projects. The blades are of excellent quality and maintain their edge for an extended period of time.
Handle is comfortable in my medium-large hands; it would be nice if it were a little more hand-filling, but it should be fine for people with smaller hands. Mine came with a soft plastic tip guard, which is a nice touch. br>The gouge is 1/8" X 1/8" (or 3mm X 3mm if you prefer metric), and it's perfect for fine detail. So far, there haven't been any serious issues. br>I'd give it four stars if the handle were a little bigger, but as it is, I'll give it three and a half.

It was a good price, it arrived quickly, and it worked well on the piece I was carving. When I first got the gouge, I stropped it with compound, which gave it the edge it needed to finish the job. I would definitely recommend this gouge to other woodworkers because of the low price and high quality of the product.
So far, it's been great for me. To make it easier to grip, I used sandpaper to smooth out the gloss finish. I also had to relieve the gouge's heel (the bottom of the V) so that the angle for entering the cut corresponded to the angle of the gouge's wings. There are numerous articles and videos available that demonstrate how to accomplish this. It took no more than a few minutes.
When it comes to removing molded surface details from plastic model kits, this is an excellent tool. Its sharp tip easily cuts through common styrene parts found in plastic kits, and the smooth beveled face allows you to carve off surface details without marring the surrounding surface, resulting in a small, level surface that only requires minor sanding to finish. The price was well worth it. Xacto chisel blades sold in the United States are far inferior.
This is an excellent resource. It gets the job done.
This is what I use to make my wood carvings look like they're covered in fur. It's great to use because it's easy to hold, you don't have to push very hard, and you can even make curves with it. The $7 was well spent.
