I've only used them on basswood so far, but they're tough and well-made. On hard wood, I believe they'd hold up well.

Pro: They're razor-sharp and glide through soft linocut mediums like butter. br>br>Con: They don't seem to fit my lady hands. I have the impression that they were designed for a larger man's hand, and the cutting edge is bottom heavy, so when cutting in tight spaces, the bottom of the blade has knocked pieces off, ruining my design. Up scooping at the end of a cut to create a point is something I'm used to, but it's difficult to do with these. br>br>I've been using them for open spaces and the edges of a piece, but not inside of my cuts, which is disappointing because I spent so much money on them, but that's how we figure out what will work. The micro set was purchased by me.
I've been carving lino for about three years, and these are the tools I've used the most. I'd like to get a few Pfeil tools soon, but they're a lot more expensive per tool. These are extremely durable, feel great in the hand, are simple to sharpen, and perform admirably. They come highly recommended by carvers who carve at a moderate to intermediate level.
I adore these tools because they are both comfortable and precise. They feel good in my hand, make small, precise lines, and glide effortlessly through soft materials like Speedy Carve. They're ideal for fine details and small lines. br>br> They even included a package of Band-Aids, which I thought was a nice touch because it's easy to get caught up in the carving and cut yourself. br>br>Would highly recommend to any new block printer looking for a comprehensive set of tools.
Until this recent purchase, I was a fan of Flexcut tools. Quality assurance in manufacturing, in my opinion, has deteriorated. This is how I explain it: This Micro-site is dedicated to There are four different tools in the Palm Set, each with its own shape, design, and function. The design of these tools, as well as the ease with which they can be used, is excellent. However, there is a lot to be desired in terms of edging and sharpening. The edges of three of the tools I received are jagged and uneven. Although the tools are sharp and well-polished, their shaped edges are uneven and jagged. When using the Flexcut SlipStrop, this is not a good thing to happen. If you aren't careful, the tools will rip them apart. When I went to the Mini-Marathon, I was expecting to see a lot of people. It was the same way with the palm set. Three of the four tools were defective, which was not a good thing. I intend to send them back and give it another shot.
These are being used to help remove any remaining wood from holes in antique spinning wheels where an end has broken off. Spokes and other connections are made with dowels, and when they break after 100 to 200 years, you must drill out some of the material and carve out the rest if it was glued or attached in a way that makes it difficult to release. This tool set, as well as the other one I purchased for various opening sizes, has proven to be extremely useful.
It's not even close to sharp. Tears rubber sheets for block printing, but can't even scratch linoleum. For my purposes, it is a waste of money.
The square shown in the example is just over an inch. This stamp was carved with the V1. It is extremely simple to operate. The lines are simple to control. I used to use Speedball tools, but I prefer the Flexicut tools.
If you want to sharpen these, you'll need a flexcut slipstrop. I sharpen mine before each carving session, and it makes a significant difference in the smoothness with which the carving goes. These tiny tools are fantastic for making all kinds of marks and details. There is only one v-. The rest of the u-shaped tips are small to medium sized u-shaped u-shaped u-shaped u-shaped u-shaped u tips with a shape I'd like to see another v- I'm still pleased with this set despite the shaped tip.
