Pros: Adherence and good value for money Because I work with cardstock, the light grip adhesion appears to last a little longer than my other favorite mats (Nicapa and Xenart), which is a plus since I cut 20-inch squares. On my Silhouettes (Cameo 3 and 4), I average 40 sheets per day. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. The entire mat is longer than any other brand's standard size cutting mat (see photo). As a result, the grid is printed 1/4" lower than the mat's top edge. It's usually fine if you're cutting with registration marks; the machine will almost always find them (though I've had to unload and reregister more frequently with this mat than with others). However, if you're cutting without registration marks, you'll need to position your projects at least 1/4" lower on your layout, or your material will be cut above the top edge. I fixed it by cutting 1/4" off the top and bottom mat margins, but it's inconvenient that I have to do so. br>I'm going to order another six-pack, first because I like the adhesion, and second because I've only seen one other review that mentions this issue, so perhaps I got a defective pack (though all six mats in my pack have this issue)? However, if those are also defective, I may have to return to my other brands.
They're actually a bit more durable than the Cricut brand, and they're well packaged. The adhesive is exactly what I was looking for. Using this mat, I created a rather complex lamp. It had a good grip on the kraftboard.
Even better, they can be washed! I've been using these mats for cardstock since March, and I use them every day for at least four to four hours. At first, they were too sticky, but they never damaged my cardstock; it was simply a matter of peeling the mat away from the cardstock, rather than the cardstock away from the matt, to avoid curling. The mats were free of illness the day before yesterday, so I scrubbed them with some kitchen detergent and a plate sponge before letting them air dry. THEY'VE RETURNED TO BE STICKY! Also, because the material used to make this mat is more plastic, I believe it will be less brittle and less likely to crack than the brand-name mats. I'm going to buy a lot more!.
If you don't want to waste money, time, or patience, don't bother with these. br>I bought them less than a month ago, and after only one or two uses, they became unsticky. EVERY SINGLE ONE. br>The video shows what happened the second time I used the "STRONG" Grip--yes, the second time I used it-- It tore the paper up instead of holding it. I even used a fresh blade. br>br> br>And yes, I experimented with various paper settings- However, using the mat and then re-sticking the paper did not work. Every actual cut I attempted was ruined as a result of it. br>br>These have NOOOO value unless you value spending more money to replace the material they ruin.
It's identical to the Cricut brand at a fraction of the cost, and it's the same size.
This was purchased to replace the Cricut mats that I had. At first glance, it does not appear to be as sturdy or long-lasting as the Cricut versions. Isn't it a little too thin and plastic? It's as if it'd easily break if I snapped it. I'm making stickers for my business with the blue (light grip) one, but it's far too sticky. I'm afraid to use the other two mats that claim to be stickier because the stickiness isn't like the normal Cricut light grip. When I place my sticker sheet and need to fix/rearrange it, it sticks to the mat far too much, and even slight movement causes the sticker sheet to warp and bend. When it's finished cutting, peeling the sticker sheet causes it to bend because it's so sticky. I would give this 5/5 stars if the sticking issue could be resolved. However, for the price and what you get, it's a good deal, so I'd recommend purchasing.
After reading reviews that the standard grip was too sticky, I decided to go with the light grip, figuring that if the mats were stickier than the cricut brand, the light grip would be close to the standard. I am happy with my decision because edible paper is expensive, so who wants to tear and waste it? In the video, I'm using wafer paper instead of icing sheets.
I'm glad I bought them, and I'll definitely buy them again if I need more.
