Questions & Answers

What is the precise meaning of this?

Although it is precise, the actual user's technique can have an impact on how it is used, either for good or for bad. A paper cutter in my office that had lost its edge had aged and I wanted to replace it with this new one. It was a great performance, and everyone was blown away. I would buy this paper cutter again, it is the best one I have ever used outside of a graphic arts studio. I wouldn't cut too many pages at once, as I do with most paper cutters.

What is the maximum cut size? According to one review, this cutter won't be able to cut a full 12" (it almost Could you tell me if that is accurate? It would be appreciated if you could cut 11 inch long pieces for me. ?

There was a reason why someone stated that it could not be used to cut 12x12 You can count on it. A 12x12 sheet was put on the cutter, and it did cut it in half, without a There is a maximum cutting width of 12". There will be scrapbook papers that are 12x12, but may have a little extra tear off corner on it, making it bigger than the standard It could be that they did so. As a creator of cards and other paper crafts, I needed a cutter like this. 12" cutters' width is 10 inches and their length 12 inches. You should buy the larger size of paper if you are aiming to fully lay a 12x12 sheet of paper on the cutter.

Do you know the minimum cut size? I heard this cutter will not go as low as 1/8", which I need to be able to do my Could you tell me if that is accurate?

As it turns out, there is a rule at It has 1/4 and 1/8 inches of markings down by the inch. It cut exactly where I wanted it to cut, so I could take an 1/8 inch cutting with mine.

Is it able to cut tabloid sheets that are 17 inches by 20 inches?

The answer is yes. An 18 inch piece was used to test it out. It sometimes pulls the paper if you don't hold the paper towards the end of the sheet. The price is higher than other trimmers of this type, but still not as high. The more you get close to 18, the more careful you need to be.

There are many problems that cannot be solved with a standard approach. Upon receiving the item, I requested an exchange because it had problems. As a replacement, Amazon sent me one promptly, but it had the same problem as the original. It took me a while to adjust both of them, but I am considering returning them out of frustration since a product shouldn't need The benefits are The metal base is heavy and has rubber feet well placed so it won't slip on a slick desktop. Solidity is what makes this handle so appealing. I like the thin, neat design of this unit and I don't have to worry about it taking up a lot of desk or shelf space. The cons are There are these black flakes covering the cutting surface of the blade (images 1, 2), the guide bar at top of the unit is not square with the base, so it cannot be used to cut equal widths in both directions (images 3, 4). The printed grid on the base is off by 1/32 of an inch, so you have to place your paper over the grid line 1/32" to get cuts at the expected length (can be difficult because you can't see the line beneath you - see below for details). Images 5, 6 tell about grease buildup on the top and bottom of some units (images 7 and 8) and some have damage to the base (images 9 and 10). This 12" paper cutter will produce ragged cuts and embed tiny black paint flecks into your material out of the box, so you'll want to make dozens of cuts along the entire cutting edge to ensure the blades are clean before you begin cutting your According to the manufacturer, this unit cannot cut through 15 sheets as cleanly as claimed. It's best to put no more than one piece of card stock or three sheets of copier paper in this cutter at a time.

Next, you'll notice that the pieces you cut do not have an equal width along their length. Aluminum guide bars at the top were not square with the base, and this is the reason. If you would like to correct this, you will require a Philips screwdriver, a small carpenter's square, and a small C-shaped drill bit Clamp your hands. The three screws under the guide bar should be loosened a twist or a twist Once your square is placed against the cutting surface (you'll need to raise the handle), push it against the loosening guide bar until it meets. As you clamp the square into position, be sure to keep it from slipping. Push the guide bar against the square as hard as you can (the screws are in a track that you'll have to bend a bit in order to get them in the right place). As soon as the bar is flat against the square, tighten the screws, making sure the bar does not move as you do so. In the next two cases, the user cannot fix the issues. A first problem is that the inch marks on the grid are inaccurate. This was verified by a metal ruler and using my square, both of which indicated that the grid was overall 1/4" The only thing you need to do is get close to your paper so that you can tell whether it is 1/32" past the grid marking you wish If not, proceed with caution Using the grid will only waste your time. Mark your paper instead. A second issue is that the replacement unit had a less satisfactory build quality than the original. The base was caked with grease from the blade hinge, and the metal base had several pits and scratches. Even though sliding sheets of paper is not a big deal, it is less pleasant if they catch on a small hole or rough spot. I wouldn't have an issue using this paper cutter to make small slips of scratch paper, but I aren't sure that it should be used for anything We make invitations and books, trim photos and cut pages for handmade books.

This is how it is- The paper clamp on the right side of the product isn't aligned straight all the way down, which is why I'm only giving it a 3 rating
3/5

A paper clamp needs to be secured down very tightly before you can align your paper for cuts because it tends to slide before you can secure it. I ended up resting the blade on my shoulder while positioning the paper because that was the only way I found to rest the blade against the blade during positioning. Weighting in at 10 pounds, it is quite heavy. You'll need a very sturdy work surface given that the weight is 5 pounds. Cutting two sheets of 140 lb watercolor paper, size 9" x 12", I ended up with a "torn" cut in the bottom.

The build quality is excellent, the cuts are precise, and the noise is low

As a replacement for an older Boston cutter that I have been using for decades, I got this tool. It doesn't sound as sharp as the Dahle Although it is super quiet, you may wonder how it cuts, but it does indeed cut very well! Having high specifications for single cuts of paper, I found the Dahle to be extremely precise, and I found it to be capable of cutting very thin edges off of According to what I can determine, the markings are nearly square, and the measurements (distance from cutting edge) are correct. Holddown clamps work well, but they would serve you better if they were parallel to the cutting edge. If I can make mine parallel, I will.

Reviewers give it a 5 star rating, but the warnings make it 1 star

It was with some hesitation that I bought this paper cutter. A paper cutter that can consistently cut 3 sheets per time was all that I needed A tight line of 10 sheets of paper. The paper I am cutting is micron-thin The only important part of this paper is the straightness of the cut. This paper is pretty expensive. I examined a variety of paper cutters ranging from $20 to $100 for this review, as did anyone reading it. It seemed that the $100 paper cutters with lots of positive reviews would be a good choice, but I wondered why I had to spend so much money to do just one simple job? Now I regret not getting a different cutter in this price range or at least not buying a different cutter at all. It is not possible to cut straight with this paper cutter. There is no straight edge to this paper cutter. I wouldn't call it a straight cut at all. Half an inch from the beginning you will be able to see that the paper is getting You are at least a quarter inch wider than the top of the paper by the time you reach the bottom of a normal piece of printer paper. This actually ruined the very expensive microscopy discs as well as cutting them improperly Paper used in chambers. If you use this paper you will waste more in supplies than you would save by going with that am using a knife with an exact edge to cut my paper at the moment, but it is worthless unless you don't care if your paper is.

In short, yes

There is nothing better than this guillotine cutter. The squares are perfectly cut. Guidelines and guide tool are straight, and guides are of good quality and fixed firmly in place. While I was concerned about the fact that it only has quarter inch and half inch lines, this has never presented a problem for me, and I use odd It allows you to use a ruler to set the cut length and not worry about it again once you've set it with the guide tool. I love it so much. A square edge is nice because I have kids, and the bucket has one. There's only one downside to cutting more than four strands at once the cut isn't as clean as it used to be. I returned my other cutter since the grid lines were not printed properly. It does five sheets at a time, but I recall it tearing five sheets at a time with a sharp blade. It looks like the clamp is supposed to be crooked that way, and I have no problem with it, and it is shown that way in the picture. Keeping the paper in place is made much easier with this. The cutter I was looking for had the clamp, the guide looked pretty good, and it marked in inches, and it marked in inches down to an eighth of an inch. There is only one product that contains all of those things but it is does not have the marks down to 1/8, but I am glad to have let go of that detail. We haven't experienced any problems with it.
