At the very least, you'd think they'd put in some hard foam or something more durable. The plastic trays are thin and cheap, and they don't stay in place very well. For the trays, I had hoped for a little more. The rest of the knives have good quality handles and blades, which is to be expected. The addition of the box is also a nice touch.
Except for one flaw, this is an excellent kit. It comes in a nice, well-made wooden box with the flimsiest plastic insert you've ever seen. They could have spent an extra two cents to keep it from falling apart. br>br>Fortunately, I have a 3D printer.
The wood case is attractive, but the trays are made of flimsy thin plastic that allows blades to fall out, and the X-ray machine is ineffective. The Acto knife clamping system is insufficient in holding and tightening blades (blades fall out during use).
The box is made of a plastic-like material that looks like wood. They went to great lengths to make it look as authentic as possible. It appeals to me still. It always astounds me how much effort is put into producing lower-quality goods these days.
Ideal for any modeler and a useful tool to have in your toolbox, with quick and efficient delivery.
The blades and knives are outstanding. This is one of those cases where "they sure don't make 'em like they used to. " The color of the wood is pale, almost birch-like. To make the latch usable, it had to be bowed slightly. br>br>The inner plastic trays are flimsy, but they are likely to be the same as the older ones. Sadly, I'll most likely transfer the contents to my old wooden box and discard the new one. br>br>I had hoped for a little more from big names like Elmers/Xacto.
Please note that the raser holder is not permanently attached to the case. There is a risk of being cut.
Great kit for the money, packaged in a sturdy wood box with extra blades to make any project go more smoothly. Scalpels are X-shaped and have a sharp point. Acto is the brand that most people turn to for small and large projects. These blades and sturdy aluminum handles make trimming parts for great fits a breeze for me as I build a wooden ship model.
