I do cardstock modeling and got these to replace my xacto blades. Sure, you get 50 for the price, but the work is of poor quality. I learned from the experience. *As a side A nice package was provided.
The first five packs did not have an edge in 2 out of 5 cases. In fact, they aren't even dull, but they aren't sharpened either. It would have received 1 star both for the price and the quality, but even at $8 per blade, it was cheaper than X-rays For $ 12 you receive 40 blades from the Acto brand, so 3 stars from me. The order might've been a fluke, but the experience doesn't give me much confidence to order another. Secondly, the steel appears to be of good quality, although the edges are a bit rougher than a X-Ray I had a little trouble carving intricate shapes in soft wood due to this, even though it shouldn't matter for cutting cardboard or foamboard. It seemed that the blade ripped off small pieces of grain, rather than carving them through.
They are basic, but not much different from the name brand refills on the market. R/C aircraft and 3D printing are the most common uses for mine. My use of these types of hobby knives dates back to over 50 years ago. I purchased a new batch of refills which do not have a dead blade storage and do not have a spring loaded individual blade dispenser like the last batch Packs of five are made from clear plastic and come in bulk. Therefore, you have to peel each one separately after handling several of them at the same time. There will be loose sharps in the trash as well. You may not like it if you don't mind those caveats, but it represents great value for the money. It might not be a good idea to go minimalist on packaging For some, this is a good place to start. The following tip is a quick one This can be refilled in the old dispenser if it is still in use. Once you have put them in the boxes, then place them in the boxes again. I like it!.
The products made by the rest of the world are inferior, with the exception of Japan, Germany, and Scandinavian steel. It's a waste of money to buy these blades. Upon arrival, the knife arrived dull and cannot be sharpened to hold an edge for The models I was using were plastic and they would have looked better if I had re-inked them It would have been cheaper to sharpen my existing ones instead of getting these ones. You can get fewer blades for a few dollars more, but they are better quality. The advantage of their sharpness was that they were sharp enough to open the US blades I ordered after I was disappointed with the German blades.
Each of the fifty blades has not been sharpened. There was no use for these.
Quite nice, fit perfectly, and very reasonable price. They came coated with stuff that I assume is just to prevent rust (not certain) but it made them a little hard to store away because I worried about getting it all over so I put it in a plastic bag. Overall, I was very impressed with the product and will definitely order again in the future.
To my disappointment, even the name brand Xacto blades weren't as good as they should have been. It is a very durable blade and will stay sharp for a portion of the time it takes the Xacto brand blade to go dull. These blades lasted much longer than others I have tried since I use them to cut thick leather, and they tend to dull quickly when you use them to cut thick leather.
It is wonderful to have craft blades in such excellent condition, and the packaging contributes greatly to that. A small amount of blades are packed in several heavy duty, clear plastic containers, making them safe and clearly visible. It came sooner than expected, which makes it that much more wonderful. I am very pleased with the product and packaging.
