Questions & Answers

Could you tell me where I can get replacement pads for these?

We will take care of the issue if you contact ION TOOL customer service.

A ridge is there in the middle of the Curved mouth?

I have a hard time explaining it. Despite the fact that it has a ridge, I would not call it There is more of a bow in the middle of the bottom than a flat bottom. As the top fits into the bottom smoothly, it gives the bottom a polished look. I hope this helps you to understand the mechanism behind the broken glass when it is placed between the jaws and added pressure. The top pushes out and the bowed center in the middle causes the break along the scored line.

In what range of width does this pair of pliers fall?

I haven't measured them, but they are about a 1-inch long. They aren't really pliers, but they are curved and have rubber covers for snapping glass back.

There are many fake listings out there, but these are the real deal
5/5

The running pliers seem to be poorly made. There are a lot of fake running pliers on Amazon, so I gave this one 5 stars. There is a curve at the jaw of a running plier. It is illegal to use your pliers if they have a flat jaw and you draw a red curve on the Amazon pictures to hide that fact. While this plier has the correct curved jaw, it is poorly ground, and the inside of the curve is overbent, so it will need to be ground down. Although this item is poorly made, it gets 5 stars because it is real. The ones with the red handles are all fakes. *An extra pair of rubber pads was included with the order, a nice touch.

As well as splitting glass, it can be used for many other purposes
4/5

I have found these to be useful for all applications involving grabbing something I don't want to damage, even if these were designed for my original use of splitting thin acrylic. Hot end throats can be removed from heater blocks without ruining threads on 3d printer hot ends. Although they seem sturdy, the coating between the pliers came off to easily when we received them. It did not smell good and it was hard to breathe when it arrived. Ultimately, I brushed the area with a brass wire brush and that did most of the job. I thought it was quite nice that this product comes with replacement rubber ends. The tool would probably work well with glass or acrylic that is at least 1/8-inch thick One fourth of an inch.

Their work paid off
5/5

The purpose of these pieces was to fix the glass louvers on a jalousie window. It turned out that the new window hardware was about half an inch wider than the existing, so instead of buying more glass, I decided to try trimming what I already had. Using this, I can cut pieces of glass down to about 1/4 inch in diameter with a success rate of about 80% (although I am a carpenter, not a glazer so maybe the junk cuts are just due to my inexperience). These pliers are really great though, and I would strongly recommend them.

I can trade it for more than one
4/5

I am a glass cutter and I spend a lot of time cutting glass. When I try it on 1/4" glass, I have to squeeze hard to make it run. I find it works great for thinner glass. The price is right and I think it's a great.

The upper jaw of the tool does not bear an indication of scribe "run" lines
3/5

As the tool was received, it was missing a scribe line in the upper jaw that would line up the tool to the etched scribe (run) line. The tool must be positioned on the glass accordingly, so you have to make an educated guess. You might find it easier to use this tool if you're an expert, but if you're a beginner or amateur, you may find it difficult. It was for this reason that I returned mine.

The tool you cannot live without
5/5

In my experience, plastic pliers are not as effective as metal ones. As a rookie, I thought it was my glass cutting skills that caused the problem. It might have to do with that. I was so amazed at how much difference these pliers made! As a result, I am eager to create a glass on glass mosaic.

The improved glass cutting will result in 100 points
5/5

My skills in cutting glass have improved completely since I started using these pliers. I was able to make my breaks clean and perfectly aligned with the score thanks to them. A lot of them came with extra plastic sleeves, which was awesome. The fact that I won't need to buy another pair of these pliers makes me more likely to order other things from this company. Looks like they're going to last a long time.

There is a poor quality to the product
3/5

There are metal bits about halfway up the jaw that make opening and closing it very difficult. After I pulled out the metal bits I could see, it was still hard to open and close, so I brought it back.
