My wall was strewn with tape after an entire wall of panels fell to the floor in one night. For the second attempt, I used 3M foam mounting tape to temporarily mount the panels, then decorative furniture tacks to secure them in the corners. br>br>For sound proofing, I like how the mounting tape is thick enough to leave a 1/8 inch gap between the panel and the wall, which adds an extra layer of sound insulation. In addition, the tape sticks firmly to the wall and other surfaces but peels away easily without damaging the paint. br>br>The 3M foam mounting tape gets five stars for other applications, but I can only give it three stars for mounting BUBOS Decorative Acoustic Panels because the foam mounting tape only provided a temporary solution and required tacks for permanent support.
These not only didn't work to hang what I needed to hang, but they also ripped the dry paint off my wall. It's also not as if it had recently been painted. When I tried to remove it, it ripped right off the wall, which hadn't been painted in at least a decade. When they were removing them, some of them left the adhesive on the wall. This is a terrible product.
For acoustic reasons, I needed to hang some very light weight fiber panels on the wall. The 3m double sided foam tape was recommended by the manufacturer because these panels are much lighter than average. I pressed firmly on each spot for a good 20 - 30 seconds after applying 5 and then 6 of the small panels to these 12" x 12" panels. Timer: 30 seconds They'd all slid off the wall and onto the floor behind my desk the next morning, except one. The sixth panel had already fallen by the time I returned. I've spent a lot of time since then reapplying more squares and applying pressure for a long time, and three of the six panels have now fallen down again. br>br>I'm not sure what to do with this, but it stinks.
Because they were recommended as an add-on purchase, I purchased these to install foam, noise-reducing panels to my wall. I noticed a few of them beginning to fold back after only a day. I experimented with pressing harder into the corners to see if it would help. It was effective for about a week. They don't stay attached to the foam panels for very long. On the other hand, they stuck well to the wall. Some will peel away from the wall without removing the paint, while others will remove the paint. br>It's been about two weeks, and almost all of the panels have come loose. I used them to cover an 11x8 foot wall. br>br>In a nutshell, foam panels should not be used. They hold up well on a couple of smooth, hard surfaces that I tried them on. I only gave them a three-star rating because they didn't do the job I needed them to do.
Because they were the most common thing people used with them, I used them to hang acoustic panels. However, when each 12" x 12" x 2" tile was made up of three squares, a bunch of them fell to the ground. My wall is covered in squares. When I tried to remove the squares from my wall, the paint peeled away, leaving a mess of adhesive guck behind. Something more durable, or at the very least replaceable, would be my choice. These are ineffective and only have a single application.
They do not work, despite the fact that they appear to be recommended for acoustic panels on Amazon. They won't stay up despite having a clean wall and all of the necessary preparations. After laying everything out and using these, they fell off the wall, which was extremely frustrating. These aren't 3M, as evidenced by their performance.
We had every window open and an air purifier running, and the stench from these double-sided foam tape squares was giving us headaches. Please don't buy these for yourself or your loved ones. You'll want to thank yourself in the future for doing your homework and finding a nontoxic alternative.
I, like you, wanted to save a few bucks and go with a non-Scotch brand, but let me just say that purchasing these was a huge mistake. br>br>I purchased these to hang sound foam in my office, but the foam began to fall off the walls less than 24 hours later. More 70% of the foam I hung was found on my floor. Now I have to go out and get some new adhesive and rehang them. Stay away, please. br>br>.
