It would allow you to get a general shape, but it isn't stiff enough to keep that shape while building or sewing on. To give the inside support to work against, I would fill the formed shape with fiber fill, expanding foam, or something similar.
My calipers showed a measurement of 3/128 inch. That's the same thing as. 0225 inch, which is the same as. 57mm.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. The size of the mesh is 20" x 10'.
The product, a wire frame for a paper mache monster costume, worked really well and provided a lot of material for the low price it was purchased for.

There is, without a doubt, a tradeoff. It's simple to cut and lightweight, but it doesn't hold its shape as well as other, more durable materials. The mesh's size means there are no big gaping unsupported spots like you'd get with chicken wire, but it also means the cut edges don't have tags long enough to wrap around each other and help create the shape. I've discovered that I must cut narrowly. To connect one piece of this mesh to another, cut armature wire into small lengths and use them as a twist tie. The disadvantage is that it is easier to cover the resulting armature with something else, such as clay or paper. TANSTAAFL, and if you're looking for something that doesn't require specialized tools or a lot of strength to operate, and you're willing to give up some performance in exchange for convenience, this is a good product.
For some kitchen cabinet doors that I was making, I wanted a rustic look. I attempted to sandwich chicken wire between two panes of glass, but it proved to be too thick. I asked about the thickness of this mesh when I first saw it. I knew it would work because Raymond B had measured it with his calipers. The mesh is light and can be cut with scissors with ease. My only gripe is with the seller, who apparently took the roll off the rack without checking to see if it was damaged before selling it. The roll was bent and dented, and the shipping carton it arrived in showed no signs of damage, so I can only assume the seller failed to inspect it. Regardless, I was able to work around the damaged areas and am happy with the end result.
The pattern is a fraction of an inch across. I'm glad I didn't choose the smaller size. It did, however, work flawlessly.
Handle with care; however, gloves are recommended.
