They're acid-free, to be sure. They're what I use to mat my watercolors.
The backs are about the same thickness as the mat, in my opinion. It's sturdy, but not overly so. I had mat board cut for me at a local store, but it wasn't as thick. They're a good option for a low-cost matting system.
No, I used these mats to hold all of my 8x10 photos, and they fit perfectly. Because it's just a mat, I had to use tape to keep the prints in place, but that's to be expected. There is no need to cut anything.

I've been using this product for a while and think the three-in-one matt backing bags are a great deal. However, the backing on the last pack I ordered was nearly an inch too short, making the packaging with my prints look unprofessional, and I don't have enough time between receiving the order and selling at events to return them. I'll keep using this company, but if I get another batch like this, I'll have to look for another. Every single one of the 25 cards in the pack was incorrect. cut. I only gave it two stars because I'd previously received some excellent ones.
This means that at these shows, my photography, painting, and cyanotype work is frequently displayed in bins for potential buyers to peruse. These mats are fantastic. br>br> I strongly urge everyone in our company to use them. br>br>These mats have helped me sell a lot of bin art. It's of excellent quality. The bags are durable enough to be used on a daily basis. The mat and backing are both sturdy and present a professional appearance. br>br>I've had to repurchase additional mats on several occasions - As a result, they're clearly in demand. The purchasers are happy with their purchase. Also, because of the low cost, I can price items to sell at "town common festivals" and other events where more expensive items would be ignored. br>br>Strongly suggested. br>br> Those who are new to matting their works should take note of the following. THE HOLE IS SMALLER THAN 8x10 IF A MATS IS DESIGNED FOR AN 8x10 PRINT! Otherwise, the print's (or painting's) edges would be visible at the corners. When it comes to mats, there is always, always an overlap, which is how they are supposed to work. As a result, you should always account for this when taking or cropping your photo. There will always be a margin on all four sides of the mat to ensure that it sits properly over the work of art. br>br>Ask if you have any questions!.
So far, I've had nothing but positive experiences with these mats. They arrived ahead of schedule, which was great for relieving some of my stress as I prepared for an art show. The plastic cover bags were placed carefully on top of the mat fronts and backs, keeping them flat to avoid creasing. The fronts and backs of the mats were wrapped in cellophane to keep them as still as possible and to protect them. I was relieved to see that the adhesive for the cover bags was on the bag itself, rather than the flap, in the box it was all shipped in. br>br>I was also relieved to see that the adhesive for the cover bags was on the bag itself, rather than the flap. br>br>I was relieved to see that the adhesive for the cover bags was on the bag itself, rather than the flap. It was a breeze to place my matted photos in the bags. br>br>I'm excited to see how sales are affected by these mats. When it comes to professionalism, a little goes a long way.
These mats are lovely, crisp, clean white, and well-made. I'm a fine art photographer who uses this company for a lot of mats, boards, and bags. Despite the fact that I do the work myself in my portrait studio, my images look beautiful and professional matted.
It's ideal for selling art prints at trade shows. My daughter is a professional artist who uses these when she has a booth every year or so. These are a great deal for the money, and the quality is just right for selling artist prints. Because of the backing board and plastic wrappings, it's simple to place a stack of these in a rack and let customers look through them without getting them dirty or damaged.
A little bit about myself: With a BFA in fine art and a focus on photography, I'm about to graduate. br>br>Review: br>br> I'd read a few complaints about unusable mats, but I'm happy to report that my package arrived with all of the mats intact; however, I would recommend that the company wraps the mat in something other than cling wrap - In the corners, maybe some bubble wrap. When I opened the box, I could see why a few corners might have been scuffed for some of the other reviewers. I've included a photograph. There is enough room for the product to slide around and be damaged. The mats are dense, and the backing boards are of good quality, so the product is fantastic for the price. The bags are nothing more than cellophane bags, but they'll work well for packaging prints for sale. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and plan to place another order.
A couple of the backing boards had minor tears, but when a mat is placed over them, the tears are no longer noticeable. br>br>They are a bright white with a clean finish; however, another reviewer complained that the opening was smaller than 8x10. In almost every case, this is the case when buying bulk mats. Overhanging your 8x10 print necessitates the extra space. It says it's for an 8x10 photo in the description, but the opening is only 7 inches wide. 5"x9. br>br>THE END RESULTS: I recently used these to mat photographs for sale at an exhibition in which I took part. The mats looked great, and I didn't get any duds in my shipment. Of course, I haven't gone through the whole box yet, but I did take a quick look at everything. I'll update this review if I discover any torn or crumpled mats in the future. 100% strong recommendation.
