Questions & Answers

Is there a gray or black version of this? Is it possible to apply it to a dark-colored painted background? Would smudges appear on a canvas painted by an artist?

It sends out a black/gray image. When transferring to a dark-colored background, you should use WHITE transfer paper. Background that has been painted. It doesn't smudge, and I usually just paint over it anyway.

Is this something that can be done with fabric?

Greetings, Lara. We apologize for the delay in responding to your query. Yes, our graphite papers will work on fabric, but this is not something we recommend. Our graphite papers contain 8% wax to prevent paper smudging which makes the lines clearer but a little more difficult to erase and may not wash out completely from the fabric br>I hope that this information is useful. br>Kate is a member of the team at MyArtscape.

Is this something that could be done with a block of concrete?

The paper is extremely thin, but it is extremely strong. It will not appear if the block is too dark. Consider drawing on concrete: if a pencil can make a line in one pass, this paper will likely work fine; however, if the concrete is very rocky and porous, the paper may tear.

Is it possible to transfer a drawing to watercolor paper using this method?

Thank you for stopping by, Mary Anne!br>br> Yes, our graphite papers will work with watercolor paper without a problem. Please keep in mind that our graphite papers have an 8% wax content that boldens the lines. If you're going to use this for a watercolor painting, you'll need to trace it very lightly. Rubber erasers will not work to erase the tracing, so you'll need a kneaded eraser. br>br>I hope this information is useful. br>Kate is a member of the team at MyArtscape.

Do not use it to paint with watercolors
3/5

Unfortunately, this paper is not suitable for watercolor painting. It simply does not remove the blemishes. With a soft eraser, of course; not in a difficult situation; I couldn't get it to work with any of the ones I attempted. In the process of trying to use it, I ruined a piece of cold pressed paper. I'm not pleased with myself. On the plus side, it arrived within a short period of time. br>br>RECENT UPDATES TO REVIEW: After reading my review, the manufacturer responded by sending me what appears to be a new product: a wax-free graphite transfer paper that is completely erasable I was very pleased with their customer service, and best of all, this new paper erases completely and easily, and it is heavier than the transfer paper I had been using for watercolor work previously. This simplifies the process even more. This paper has made me extremely happy. If you're going to use it for watercolor, make sure it's wax-free and erasable. This, I believe, is the connection:

On watercolor paper, it is difficult to erase
3/5

This graphite transfer paper performed poorly when used on Arches 300 watercolor paper. There was no image when I pressed lightly; Using slightly more pressure resulted in a transfer that was impossible to sufficiently erase/lighten (with a kneaded eraser) so that it didn't show through multiple watercolor washes. This item will be returned to me.

It's quite effective
4/5

So, as it turns out, not all graphic paper is created equal. This was my first purchase of this item, and while I didn't want to pay the price, I was hoping for a more durable paper. I found this product to be more durable than others I've tried; it didn't tear as easily as others, so I'll be able to use the sheets more than once or twice; thus, it's a good buy that will last longer. Because the transfer color graphic adhered strongly to my canvas and was not easily erasable, I would use a lighter pressure in the future. Darker colors of paint cover it, but lighter colors do not, so I would use a lighter pressure in the future. People who are heavy-handed should be aware of this. 😁.

Shipping was a disaster
3/5

Because of no fault of the paper's manufacturer, simply throwing it in a box with heavy items results in a lot of lines in the paper; for anyone who requires clean flat sheets, I would never order this with anything else. To keep it flat and useful, they could have taped it between two pieces of cardboard. My criticism is directed at the shoddy delivery.

It does the trick for me! It's perfect for me! I've read reviews on both ends of the spectrum
5/5

1- It is strongly advised that this product not be used on fabric, so don't blame the product if something goes wrong. br>2 - It expressly states that a kneaded eraser can be used to remove it. A pencil eraser isn't one of them. That is not the case. br>br>Now for my opinion. This graphite paper has worked well for me. br>I've tried it on wood before. I've tried it out on plain paper. I've tried it out on watercolor paper. br>Whenever I needed to erase something, I simply used my kneaded eraserbr>and it worked perfectly. br>Each sheet is getting plenty of use. The paper isn't too thin to tear easily, but it's also not too thick to tear easily. It is possible to tear it if you use the wrong product to trace on it. You should have no problems with thisbr>transfer paper if you just use common sense.

It is difficult to erase
3/5

I've only used this paper to trace a design onto a primed and painted recycled can that I planned to paint and use as a pencil holder so far. br>It did transfer, but I only gave it a 3 out of 5 star rating. Because it does not erase, I gave it a five-star rating. I tried to erase with an eraser (Prismacolor kneaded art eraser) in the areas where I overdrew the design or got off track a little, but it didn't completely remove it. I could cover "most" little smudges and marks with paint, but the description clearly states, "8% wax content ensures bold, clean lines which are easily erasable with a "br>It was not at all simple for me. In fact, there were a few spots where the paint didn't come off at all. br>In terms of value, at nearly $9 for 25 sheets, I'm not sure this paper is a good buy. I haven't purchased any graphite paper in the past to compare it to. Is it a good deal to pay 35 cents per sheet? I'm not sure because there are so many different sellers on Amazon with different prices. br>By no means am I a professional artist. I'm a home crafter who does sporadic projects and needed some tracing paper. I intend to use it for wood burning as well, but I have yet to begin that project. I know I'll have to be careful when tracing because it's difficult to erase.

This is the most useful tool in my collection of art supplies! This item is one of my favorites to use
5/5

Because it takes a reasonable amount of pressure to transfer, finger smudging is reduced. The disadvantage is that you can't easily erase it, so double-check everything before transferring. br>The same sheet can be used over and over again. I've had it for a while and have only used two sheets so far. br>In my art supplies, this is the most useful tool. I'll be purchasing more of this in the future. I'll let you know when I've used up all of my remaining supplies.

It's of good quality, and it's one of the best layout tools I've ever purchased
5/5

This is an excellent piece of writing. When tracing a layout onto heavy Strathmore watercolor paper, this tool comes in handy. If you choose to edit or remove lines, a regular pencil eraser nearly erases the entire mark. At worst, there's a light smudge of a gray mark that won't show up unless washed lightly. br>br>I firmly trace my design with the tip end of a chopstick or one of my small watercolor paintbrushes, but not so firmly that the paper indents. As a result, a very fine medium, medium-strength, medium-weight, medium-weight, medium-weight A fine gray line, similar to that of a afine-line mechanical pencil. br>br>From my own experience, the sheets can be reused multiple times.
