Neither size nor weight is marked on the package, so I measured it There are two lines in this paragraph. There are 1.16 inches (20.6 cm) in the eye length. The needle dia. is 362mm (about 3/8"). This is the case. A width of 0.49" (about 3/64") is estimated for each eye. About 1/32" high by 30" wide by 30" long
The needles of this poultice are strong and extra long, but the eye is small. The carpet thread had to be flattened to get through the eye, thus causing wear and tear to it.
needles are supposed to be blunt, but they do not have to be. A diamond chisel or piercing awl (which looks like a fork with sharp tines) is used to drill the holes into the material.

The update is It was a better needle this time. My daughter and I are making her a leather quiver from these. Since I have been sewing mostly with a regular light-weight machine, I have been using it This is a relatively heavy tapestry/doll needle (not meant for leather use), and so far it has proven durable but I needed a shorter needle for the curvy areas inside the doll. I decided to buy one of these packages. *I'm using 8 oz leather and have pre-designed the back of the bag When the sewing needle is stitched, very little pressure is put on it. All sewing holes have been punched. In light of this, I have already snapped three of the needles right where the shaft meets the eye of the needle, and I still have quite a bit of stitching to do (the needles do not last for In light of the fact that this package has ten needles, I should be able to make it but I will be looking for a different brand next time.
After reading other reviews, I found out that I am not the only one with this issue. Does this mean I got a bad package or is there a problem with quality control? A. LATEST UPDATE Nine out of 10 needles broke before I could sew 30" (stitches are 3/16" apart - ed. The entire piece was stitched with a saddle stitch). A reviewer pointed out that John James needles were a better alternative, so I bought a pack of size 3 halfway.
I recommend it for leather workers! It used to be necessary to use a sharp glover's needle to stitch leather, but now that I use an awl and these needles, I can eliminate that step altogether. By having the rounded tip, the awl will not snag on the sides of the hole created by the awl, so thick leather is much easier to work with. Due to their rounded tip, it's not actually possible to pierce leather with them, but you can use them after a hole is In addition to the quality of the metal, the assembly process was also impressive They are not flimsy and they don't fall apart as easily as I thought, provided you do not misuse them.
If you have leather that is thicker than that, you will probably need to use an awl needle, but for the most part these will handle the majority of leathers while using finger reinforcement (thimble, glove, etc. ). If you are using thick leathers, it is likely that holes are already started with another tool, so you shouldn't lose stars for this. Once they become lost or bent after use, I shall purchase them again.
In any case, they are great needles!
For a low price and for a long time! My coffee just the way I like it! As a sewing hobbyist, I made myself a new sewing palm, and these needles are really When I grabbed a needle by the eye with my pliers, I had to twist it more than once to get it through 3 layers of leather and 2 layers of rawhide, but The abuse I subject needles to often results in them snapping at the eye when subjected to my misguided treatment. I can even use my fingers to do some of these! With these needles, I imagine that many sails and gear will be stitched both in manufacturing and in repair.
A needle of this quality is the worst. In the end, I had to stitch one leather waller out of the whole pack. Stitching with wooden toothpicks is like trying to eat soup with a two-pronged fork. It is so easy for them to break and they You are wasting your time with them. There is an air of woodiness about them, as if they are made of wood instead of metal. This is awful. Buying is never a good idea. My word is my bond.
Although they are the right size, I think the batch I received had a defect because some of the needles were so dull you had to poke a hole in them for the needle to go through. To begin with, I bent many of them to the point that they broke before I started using an all to poke holes in them.
The needles broke so quickly that I was surprised. When saddle-saddling holsters, I have broken four of these during a single project (a holster) A stitch. It is evident that the eye is a weak area that needs strengthening since they always break there. This is excellent. It's interesting that Tandy is putting their name on them.
Unlike Tandy Leather's standard packaging, these didn't come in a box. I will not be buying them from here again, as two of the needles bend upon use with slight pressure. (saddle stitching leather)
I will not buy them again. Once I'm able to visit Tandy personally, I'll let you know.
