Shipments of wine with Excelsior packing were made years ago to keep it safe. There is also a need to consider the size of the box and the amount of packing. According to FedEx packing services, an object should have 4 inches of packing to protect it. As much as a pound of packing material could be involved. You could probably get by with 1/2 pound of packing paper if you're just packing for presentation and not mailing.

It is a wood based product which might break down if exposed to moisture and soil. If used in the potting of plants, it might be exposed to moisture and soil. There were no little pieces of broken product in the bag. Delivery was prompt. When I asked a question about the product, I found the seller's response waiting for me two hours later, so ten stars each for product and customer service!
I am using the Excelsior for a young squirrel that somehow lost part of his right foot. Hollowed out of a Catalpa tree, he lives in it. When it rains, he would as well be sleeping in a sieve, and winter snowfall has thankfully been delayed this year, but it is quick to make its appearance. In spite of the fact that the squirrel adapts fairly well, due to his evident handicap in speed and coordination, he has pretty much become This excelsior will keep him comfortable and dry in his new squirrel house. Animals usually spend winters in a group, so this one is likely to keep at least one other squirrel warm. It showed a great deal of heart on the seller's part to make sure the squirrel had every bit of bedding that he needed as soon as possible. The seller's products will be all that I buy from him. Even if it were only his ethics that I recommended this seller, I would do so. I was very pleased with the product quality. Don't let this opportunity pass you by!.
The wood excelsior is thin and exactly what I was looking for to stuff handmade toys with. It has a nice consistency and is the right thickness for using since I'm stuffing it myself. Since it's natural wood, I won't have to worry about artificial colors rubbing off on other belongings. Because of how it's packaged, I give it 4 out of 5 stars. There are a lot of issues with this bag, including breaking easily and the excelsior being a muddle unless you put it in another container or bag. In addition, it would have been nice to receive it in a bag that was resealable so that I could store it throughout.
I found the product to be too thick and did not work well for my needs. An excelsior that was finer and more flexible would have been perfect.
