Questions & Answers
I'm not sure how long the wire is supposed to be, but mine is 14 inches long. It's what I use to cut clay 25 pound blocks into manageable sizes.
How soft the soap blocks are will determine how long they last. This cutter was designed for potters to cut through clay, which is extremely soft when thrown. (Clay tends to be a little firmer than cream cheese.) ) So, if your soap is extremely soft, it will work; otherwise, it will not.
Unless you're an expert rigger, I don't think you'll be able to replace the wire.

I can't tell you how many cheap wire cutters I've bought so far, so believe me when I say you need this in your toolbox. If this happens, the wire will not fray or cut you, as it did to me, and it is excruciatingly painful. If you're going to use a wire cutter, you get what you pay for, so invest in this.
As with nearly every other Mud tool. I'm pleased with the product's quality, which is far superior to my old wire cutter from a beginner tool kit. The wire is pliable and will not knot or kink. The only disadvantage is that wrapping the wire around the comfortable handles is more difficult than wrapping it around a wooden stick. However, I don't use that technique, so this is irrelevant to me. However, I thought it was worth mentioning for potential buyers. Keep in mind the wire cutter's length. It's not as long as I'm used to, but it hasn't hampered any of my projects.
This wiggly wire is one of my favorites! It gives the bottoms of pots that I don't want to trim a nice finish. I also had no idea that you can choose the distance between your wiggles. The cutter comes compacted to about 3 inches long, and you get to choose how far apart you want to pull it apart before using it for the first time; I went with really tight wiggles.
I've been friction sawing toward myself while holding the material down with my foot against a corner. The wire saw sliced right through the bottom of my shoe in just a few strokes the last time! Remember to use caution and treat it as if it were a saw.
For over 40 years, I've worked as a potter. Wire cutter is the best tool I've ever used. I'd had enough of losing it in my studio at various workstations, so I ordered more.
I decided to "splurge" a little more and get this guy, and he's absolutely gorgeous. I also don't cut my soggy fingers as much as I used to when I wired my pieces right away with the very LONG cheap tools.
I've been studying and working with ceramic art for about two years, and I've already gone through two wire-tools that tangled and broke on me, so I'm confident that this one will last me a long time. After a problem with my shipping and delivery, the seller was quick to respond and have it re-shipped. I had it delivered to me. I'm even more eager to throw now:.
Definitely superior to the wire tools with wooden handles. The grip is excellent, it is long-lasting, and it meets all of my requirements.
