This is a low-cost set, to be honest. The wooden rib and needle tool is the only tool I've ever used on the wheel. I bought this and most of the pieces broke within a day or two of normal use.br>For someone who is already using the wheel and intends to continue, ask specifically what they require or simply give them a gift certificate to a pottery store they frequent. Kemper and Mudtools are two of my favorite programs.
I'm not sure how to respond to this, but I'll give it my best shot. I use them on clay, porcelain, play doh, and polymer clay (of all types of dryness).
They're made in China; I have the 31-piece set, which is made of wood, and I believe the 30-piece set is also made of wood.
No, I doubt it. The metal isn't stiff enough, and the edges aren't razor-sharp enough.

br>br>The only thing I wish we had was a piece with a ball on the end so I could smooth out the irises of the eyes once they were cut out. br>We were working with WED clay, which is a very soft clay, and I'll say that if we had been working with a harder clay, some of these tools might have been a little flimsy or broken. However, everything has worked well so far for our purposes. I'd order it again in general.
Most of these could be used for small details or carving on still soft clay, but if done on leather hard it will most certainly break. For the most part, you won't need this if you are a beginner just learning the basics. The customer service, on the other hand, is excellent. They were extremely professional as soon as they read my count and contacted me with an offer to compensate me for the broken pieces. This is fantastic.
Everything I could possibly require, as well as everything I did not realize I required. I'm using them to carve pumpkins with fine details, and they're working out great. Now that I've acquired the necessary tools, I can focus on honing my carving abilities. It's ideal for carving 3D pumpkins.
This clay tool set has a lot of items for the price; the tools aren't as sharp as the famous brand clay tools, but they're fine for the polymer clay I'm working with; you might be able to sharpen them if you're working with pottery clay, as I'd need them sharper for that as well. I haven't attempted it, but I haven't felt compelled to. For a low price, you can get high-quality goods.
This set had piqued my interest, and I couldn't wait to get it. But, before I could finish peeling half of my pumpkin, the ribbon cutter broke. It could be a lot more durable, in my opinion. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> br>The customer service is fantastic; I emailed them with my issue. They responded quickly, within hours, and said they would send me new ribbon cutters. I'm hoping they'll be more durable than the previous ones. I'm still waiting for it, but the customer service has been excellent thus far.
I'm not sure what I can do about the trimming. The quality is extremely poor. br>br>With the trimming tools, I can't do much because they're all blunt and push the clay instead of carving it. It's an unusual metal - Instead of stainless steel, it's more tin-like. They're flimsy, and mine bent easily when I put them in the clay. The knives haven't been sharpened, and their edges aren't straight. They have a rough texture to them. If you want to make something of high quality, I would not recommend these tools.
Tools were quick, good quality, and a great price! They helped me finish my sculpture and were very helpful in sculpting the face and hair. Definitely recommended for all levels of pottery and sculpting, from beginner to advanced.
This is a good book for kids in elementary school. Certainly not for a budding clay artist. It's all very cheap. It's better to spend a little more money on a few well-made tools rather than a bunch of cheap ones.
