Questions & Answers
It's designed for pottery and ceramics, and it needs to be cured at a high temperature in a kiln to keep the color from washing away.
Yes, when done properly.
Barbara, how are you? That is an excellent query. The stains should be mixed with some frit and water in order to achieve the best results. The flux (binding agent) that keeps the color on the bisqued item is known as frit. Another option is to use it as a wash with water and then finish it with a clear glaze.
Thank you for getting in touch. This stain is available in a dry form that can be used to make a wash with water or mixed into slip and applied to green ware. Slip will not stick to bisque ware. You could also use it as an ingredient in a bisque glaze. I hope this has answered all of your questions!

This is 2010 in a very clear manner. Cone 5 early 6, fired at a high temperature. It's not very red, and it has a significant effect on the glaze. Adding another 2010 to it might make it more red but would likely reduce this glaze to a Matt sheen.
This review isn't about the product's quality, but rather how it was delivered. I've ordered other colors before, and they've all arrived in good condition and sealed. However, there was blue stain all over this package when I opened it. Not exactly the image you'd want for a potentially dangerous substance. br>br>I ordered six or seven of these at the same time, and while the others arrived fine, they were all sent out at random and in the same type of envelope, so I imagine it could happen to any of them. br>br>I tossed this one because I didn't think it was worth salvaging.
For casting, I use my own slip. I'd never used a colorant before, but the results were far superior to my expectations. I used a clear glaze after bisque firing, and the results are stunning.
) I'm in love with all the colors at the moment! 🤗.
I was probably using it incorrectly, but it didn't mix in well, and if you use it as a surface treatment after firing, it's flaky and leaves a mess of blue powdery flakes all over the place, and if you try to clear glaze over top of it, the glaze peels away from the slip and doesn't cover the art evenly.
The clumsy packaging is my pet peeve about this product. On the outside of the package and inside the envelope it was delivered in, there was colored powder all over it. When I first opened it, it was a complete disaster.
The slip was lovely, and it stayed that way even after bisque firing. However, it turned gray after the final cone 6 firing. It's a nice gray, but not at all like the berry wine I bought. According to the product information, it can be used for low, medium, or high firing.
It's a great color that's simple to mix. Simple ordering and prompt delivery.
