This is an excellent tool! It's great to have this tool
5/5

Throwing it on a wheel is so easy because it's so soft and flexible. There are times I simply prefer using something soft and flexible instead of metal ribs. The great thing about this is that it doesn't rust or accidentally cut your fingers like other sharp metal ribs It is great to use if you're throwing something that is off-center because it is more gentle to the pot compared to a metal rib. I, as an intermediate potter, find that it assists me in making my pots intact because when using a metal rib, if I apply too much force, my pots flop. In any case, the rib allows me to inflict a sufficient amount of force on the piece while still being more gentle so that it doesn't fly off as Due to my lack of mastery, I have difficulty finding a balance between force and control. I am grateful to anyone who can assist me. It is also useful for compressing and smoothing my foot when I have finished trimming so that it will not scratch the table. It has a very special significance to me, and I think it is worth mentioning. The rib is so flexible that it will conform to any shape - and it is so soft! It feels like stepping on Depending on my needs, I might also use it to compress and smooth other parts of my leather dry piece. It's always my choice to use it where I plan to talk because it creates a smooth surface that contrasts well with what I am going to say. I also use it to blend the handle onto my mugs when I want the handle to be seamless. If I want it to blend seamlessly, I do not need to use only my finger to blend the handle because it cannot fit into In such a case, I use it especially for the tops of the handle joints, where the crevices are very small and cannot be smoothed like the bottoms. By using gentle pressure I am able to glide along this rib while attaching it as well as smoothing it down to make it aesthetically pleasing. My only option is to use a metal rib, which will slice and cut through There are thin, soft tips that gradually become thicker. The rib is perfect because of its thin tips. Therefore it fits well into the crevices from a geometrical perspective. For a long time, I used the side of a needle tool to get in there as best I could, but it's straight and not flexible, so it can't get into as many nooks and crannies as this rib can. If I had attempted to smooth it down, I would have made more errors, resulting in more frustration and more wasted time. But this did the trick It's been a short time since I've used this rib, but I'm already in love with it and all the ways it can be used. If you have not already, I highly recommend that you get this rib. It is soooo thick and stiff that I have tried other rubber ribs that are just not comparable. The rubber ribs I have are simply a waste of money and I'd prefer to use metal ones. Those of you who don't wish to use the very soft rib can get those from Sherill, who offer stiffer ones that are still soft and pliable. It comes with tons of features and is worth a lot more than the $9 price tag. My free shipping cost me 99 dollars! Similarly, I haven't spent more than a few dollars on most tools I buy, as I mostly don't use them all, and I keep some around the studio for future use. I realize that $9 is quite a bit. To some, 99 does not seem like a cheap price for ribs, but this product is definitely I also appreciate the fact that the quality of the rubber they use is superior to what I have As a college student, I am not affiliated with anyone or anything, nor did I get a discount for this review. I'm just a person who loves pottery and adores this thing. This rib is highly recommended to any beginner, and of course to anyone else (though I'm sure you've heard of mudtools and this rib already). This is life-saving. I will probably purchase the other sizes of these ribs as well because I love them.

It is misleading
3/5

There is a discrepancy between what I received and what is on the listing. My ribs came as an angled rib, not the kidney-shaped one I was expecting. I received a copy of the book and the book came with the ribs. The rib I eventually added to my collection was going to be added to the collection regardless, so I did not There's nothing wrong with the rib. It's soft, flexible, and has a Sherrill Mudtools trademark on one side. Disappointed that the listing is unclear.

This is a great rib for smooching
5/5

Smoothing is a great use for this rib. It has a very good size and is This is just a thin plastic piece, so I wish they could do a better deal. I presume they need to make a profit somehow while at the same time recouping the cost of making the mold they use to make the.

These are great tools, but be sure to pick these up as well! This is a great tool if you throw clay or build by hand

A "1" is given here. As well as the "0" size, which is smaller, I also bought the "1" size. My friend and I both purchased these.

A shape was received from Wong
3/5

A lot of very good ribs are made by Sherrill mud tools. The slip of a pot can easily be scraped off with this and volume can be added to handcrafted forms. Despite this, the seller sent me the wrong shape, which means that the rib won't work for the purpose I wanted On one end, it is long and flat but on the other two ends, it has pointed edges. The seller may not be aware that the shape is important so he's asking for a pretty expensive price for one rib.

The clay is easily smoothed with this product
5/5

Having practiced pottery on the wheel for about 3 months now, I have an understanding of how it is done. On the finishing end of my piece, I found this tool very useful for lightly smoothing the surface. Flexible and soft, it can be molded to any shape.

It's the best red rib I've ever had!
5/5

It removes from the It's the best red rib I've ever had! Since it is pliable enough to be able to remove all small ripples in my clay bowls without any problems. As the first product I ever bought from Sherrill Mudtools, I hope I won't be the last! I found it to be flexible enough to bend to accommodate my shape and yet strong enough to remove ridges, small divets caused by my finger nails, etc.
