There were a few dings left on the piece from shipping, but it didn't compromise the structural integrity since this is not commonly found in assembling furniture. Ultimately, I didn't think it was worth my time to focus on It appears that there were errors in the directions as to how many pieces of the puzzle were needed but there were spare screws in an additional package so I was able to complete the project. For this, you will need a standard Phillips head screwdriver and a crescent wrench (there is a small wrench included, but it won't really fit on the nuts). Upon assembly it is very sturdy and I am quite pleased with the results. After some patience and a little strength (I have arthritis), I managed to put it together by myself.

The components are easy After casting, some of the screws had yet to be finished, so they were not usable. There is a problem with how the shelves are attached because their screws do not go very deeply. It is very helpful to put a little wood glue on the joints during assembly.

It took me a long time to put it together because there were so many pieces. Among my complaints is that one of the boards on the shelf won't stay in place. On one side of board 12, but not on the other (boards 10 or 11) will board 12 stay screwed in. My shelves aren't totally useful, so I have one that isn't entirely functional. That desk is nifty, and the others are fine as well. The part I had to replace is just wearing out.

Creating small quilts is something I do daily so the extended leaf provides space for my little quilts. There is an 18 lb. bottle of wine on the table. It was a piece of cake to use the sewing machine.

Despite its appearance, this was not a sturdy piece. There was a problem getting the drawers to stay on, and they fell off. This desk is not suitable for use as a sewing machine. You can't put a great deal of weight on it. Do not buy. This is a substandard item at best.
