The Speedball brand is not familiar to me, but these are very strong balls. The process of carving my own stamps is something I experimented with. Even though I have the special tools to carve, the rubber is really difficult to work with. The problem may be with me rather than with the carving blocks I am a novice. Their size and durability make them ideal for outdoor use. Here is what I hope will help!

Using acrylic paint and typesetting ink worked fine, but the solvent I used to clean the typesetting ink off the stamp dissolved the stamp. It was a solution specifically designed for cleaning rubber brayers, which is why it dissolved the stamp. I'd used the same solvent and a different rubber stamp and it wasn't a problem so I guess it's just a chemical difference with this rubber stamp? I have now a limited edition print that is super, super rare. I messed up.

Because of tendinitis in all my fingers, I can't carve blocks as far as I used to. Tosnail rubber blocks were easy to carve and left very clean edges, allowing precision carving of fine details. I tried other alternatives to linoleum blocks, but the carvings ended up being rough and grainy, so the finer details had to be missed. This will be my fourth purchase of this product.
