Basically, it works the same way as a distress pad. Water does however have an effect on it. In this case, if you ink your surface, you can sprinkle water on it and it will react. Inks made of oxide can be found on YouTube

As a new distress ink user, I am trying to get acquainted with the products. Even though I watched tons of YouTube videos, I do not understand what the fuss is about. It would seem that distressed inks offer a velvety texture that other inks do not. OK. I find that interesting. With just a little bit of ink, I can distress paper just fine. Rather than spending more money, why not spend less? It may just be that I am not a fan of distress inks.
It's really hard to find any words to describe how wonderful these oxide inks are. I still like the regular inks that Ranger has, however these inks are so impressive!.
It is the perfect color to use for my junk journals because it gives them an aged feel.
My ink pad arrived dried up, so I purchased reinker and have been using it ever since.
I use them to shade and stamp a lot. The substance also interacts with water, which makes it a highly versatile substance.
I love this product because it gives vintage look to scrapbooking papers, junk journaling papers, etc.

It has just the right amount of a vintage look to it. I really love the color and brand of this shirt.
