Questions & Answers

Is it possible to adjust the hole spacing for two holes to 4 1/4 inches apart?

Yes. It does, in fact, have a marking for it on the black part, as well as the ability to measure on the silver. The hole punches themselves can also be moved.

For a standard three-hole punch, where do you keep the paper guide? The paper guide is also difficult to keep in place. Help. ?

The 5 should be aligned with the left edge of the punch when using the paper guide. Alternatively, you can line up the 9-hole golf course. Using the 2-, make a half-mark on the guide. From the center punch, make a 3/4-inch mark on the left. br>It's the same physical position in either case. br>The only explanation I can think of for why the guide won't stay in place is that it's bent.

Is 52PT chipboard compatible with this?

I have no idea what 52 PT chipboard is, but with enough pressure, it slices through multiple sheets.

Is the hole smaller or larger as a result of this?

There are 9/32" holes in this. Swingline is the only place to get 11/32" or 13/32" tubing. You'll still need to buy three replacement heads in the desired size. If you work with 3" binders on a regular basis, the larger holes are well worth the money.

Selected User Reviews For OIC Heavy-Duty 3-Hole Lever Punch, Black

I had been looking for a punch like this for a long time and had finally settled on
5/5

Well-made, and unlike many others, fully adjustable in any spacing increment you desire. The punches do have machine oil from the manufacturing process on them. However, hearing others complain about such minor details exposes their lack of understanding of how to manufacture metal punch systems and protect them from rust while they sit in boxes for months at a time. To remove excess machine oil, simply punch multiple times on scrap paper. The "issue" has been resolved. As for me, I'd much rather have "excess" machine oil than rusted cutter heads when they arrive. I looked around for a long time for a punch like this and eventually settled on this model; This purchase has brought me great joy and satisfaction. No, this punch won't be able to cut through 50 sheets of paper. If you need that much capacity, you should look for a commercial unit that costs between $10 and $20,000. By a factor of 20. Don't hesitate to buy this unit if you're looking for a well-made intermediate capacity punch that will last a long time. After that, go through the "pre-" procedure. You'll never look back if you combine the "punch" mentioned above with some scrap paper. I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for this three-part series. It's well worth the money to get a hole fully adjustable punch. And, let's face it, we're all guilty of it. If you buy it on Amazon, you'll get a discount. The satisfaction guarantee offered by com is simply unrivaled.

This one packs a punch
5/5

It is simple to adjust. I've only recently begun to use it, but it appears to pack a powerful punch - The product is well-made and simple to adjust and operate. The spacing between the holes can be adjusted by moving all three punches. The center punch can be moved about 3/4" from its original position. Each of the two end punches can be moved about three inches. Furthermore, the backstops against which you press the paper's back edge can be adjusted slightly so that the holes' centers are between 7/16" and 9/16" from the back edge. Pushing down on the handle is easy, and the overall design makes it easy to see where the punches are in relation to the paper. Because the punches are lubricated at the factory, the first few holes you punch may show some oil staining.

WARNING TO BUYERS! AN OLD AND/OR USED ITEM WITH GREEN MARKS ON THE PAPER AND/OR COVER STOCK
3/5

All I wanted was a solid, well-built piece of furniture. two-dimensionally adjusted hole punch, and because my options on Amazon were severely limited, I decided to give this one a try (especially given the positive reviews). It arrived in a thin plastic shipping bag/envelope rather than a box to protect it during transit. As a result, the item's box was pretty much ruined when it arrived. However, the box was not only cracked and torn in several places, but it also appeared to be old and used. But, most importantly, the hole punch itself was filthy/dusty and appeared to have been used (particularly the underside, which had scuff marks and dirt). This didn't appear to be a brand-new item at all! But I overcame my reservations and decided to give it a shot. br>br>When I tried it out to see how well it would work for my project (a two-year project), I was pleasantly surprised. Punching holes in a lot of 110 lb. paper It left DARK GREY markings all around the rim of the holes on the cover stock (for a business). Is this for real? It was impossible for me to believe what I was hearing. Whatever I did seemed to leave the dark grey markings. So it was returned to its original position. br>br>Giving this company and item the benefit of the doubt, I assumed it was a fluke, so we simply requested a return and replacement. We found ourselves in the same situation two days later. The item was sent in a plastic bag/envelope; the box was shattered, old, and used, and looked WORSE than the first; the inside was identical. It's filthy/dusty, and the bottom is scuffed, as if it's been used before. I tried it again to see if the grey markings would come out, and they did. br>br>Of course, this is ridiculous and unacceptable, so we're returning the SECOND one and looking for a different two-person set. hole punch (I discovered that I don't actually need an "adjustable" one after all, so I have more options). However, be aware that this company sells OLD and/or USED hole punches, which are a complete waste of time. Unless you don't mind dark grey marks on your otherwise spotless paper or projects. The only thing that this two-parter has going for it is the fact that it's entertaining The hole punch has a hefty/sturdy feel to it. It's a pity it didn't go as planned.

This paper hole puncher is a nice addition to my collection
4/5

I like this paper hole puncher because it's heavy and reliable, but I wish it had markings for common hole punch combinations like standard paper (8" x 11") and standard mini binder holes (5. 5" x 8"). It took a lot of tinkering to get it just right, so in addition to wasting paper, I had to sit there and fiddle with it. Although the heavy-duty screws will ensure consistency once you've decided on a paper dimension, I believe that common dimensions should be labeled for convenience when purchasing any hole puncher larger than the standard size.

This hole punch is incredible
4/5

There's only one minor issue that needs to be resolved (possibly). For these dreadful 12-inch holes, I needed a more powerful hole punch. I need to keep track of 20-page packets. As a result, this is a fantastic device. The silver tab that you can slide to adjust where the holes are repeatedly punched is the only minor issue I have with it. Well, on the one I got, that part doesn't have a set screw or even much resistance, so if I nudge it too hard with the stack of papers, it moves and punches the holes slightly off-center. It should be a simple fix. There are two tabs that are sort of putting pressure on it to keep it in place, so I'm going to try bending them a little with a hammer and punch tool to apply more pressure. If that fails, I'll simply drill and make my own set screw. easy day. Apart from that minor snag, this thing is tearing through my stacks of 20 with relative ease, compared to my smaller puncher.

3/5

I bought this heavy duty punch in the hopes that it would last a long time, but it hasn't worked in less than three months; one of the posts won't come down, so it's now a two-hole punch rather than a three-hole punch. I've looked for a manual to see if I can figure out what to do with it, but I haven't been able to locate one. VERY DISAPPOINTED, to say the least.
