Using this with my Silhouette 3 for cutting leather for earrings is what I bought it for. It is hard to tell how to use this blade from the directions or information presented. My knife had to be lowered three times as I ran the cut, so the blade depth had to be changed each time. It would be nice if silhouette offered more guidance on how to use this product.
This is me. If you were to cut the foam precisely for crafts that require fine detail, I would leave it to you. This new blade has a deep cut and I like it a lot.
Please be aware that this blade only fits the Cameo3 model. Despite the fact that all Cameo4 plastic adapters are included with the blade, this blade does not fit It has a flat back side and longer kerf than the Cameo4 kraft blades that you can pick up at JoAnns instead of on Amazon.
Cutting felt is as easy as cutting paper with this tool. There is no blood in the cut. My razor works great, I followed the instructions for using it and it doesn't cause any pain at all.
In addition to cutting simple designs in felt and quilting cotton, I also used this machine to cut simple designs out of felt. A beautiful cut was made.
Besides the rotary blade on the Cricut Maker, I also have a Cricut Maker for fabric cutting. Using both seems to be a good idea since they are both able to cut through fabric effortlessly. However, Silhouette has set it up in a way that is just out of this world. When it encounters a sharp corner, Cricut lifts the blade, rotates it to the correct angle, lowers it and cuts. Silhouette lifts the blade, moves the cutting head to the negative space and cuts an arch in order to rotate it It then travels to the spot where it is going to cut and lifts the blade. I am not sure why it is this way of cutting, it leaves multiple little cuts in the wrong place on the Those stray cuts are visible when you set it up to send the cut to the machine. I'm not sure if there is a way to move or adjust them. There could be only one reason for them to do it this convoluted way and that is because they could not get around Cricut's patent on its rotating blade system, which is excellent (unlike their terrible Assuming silhouette's other tools work similarly for the second carriage, I would expect it to work in a A little time will be needed to adjust. As of now, I have cut quilting cotton and for shapes that are more or less simple, it has worked well. Take a moment to imagine what you could cut if you had a tiny rotary blade in your hand. Obviously there are some limitations, but you could do a lot, but cutting super intricate shapes would be near impossible with out overcutting, etc. For silhouette, you can do the same thing with the rotary blade. Instead of a special mat, the rotary blade works fine with a standard mat as opposed to cricut, which requires a separate fabric mat with special adhesives.
I was hesitant to order it at first, wondering if it would be worth the money or if I would actually use it? In my silhouette studio, I did a very easy drawing and then let it There are no jerky lines and the drawing is very sharp. I was surprised by how good it is. I'm only slightly disappointed that it won't take the thicker sharpies and watercolor pencils, but it's wonderful for the thinner ones. It would be nice to have something to draw or make cards from if I want to do that.
These blades are excellent and cut right through the leather I bought them My current blades will eventually wear out and I will have to buy these again.
