Questions & Answers

Is it as dependable as the Fiskars 132050-? What is a 1001 Measuring Gauge?

A Fiskars measuring gauge was never used by me. I think it's very durable, and I've used it a lot. There are no issues with it.

The concept is sound, but the execution is lacking
3/5

What a waste of time. down! Nancy's ideas are generally appealing to me, but this one isn't particularly practical. To begin with, the material is flimsy. When I'm sewing, I have to keep it out of the way to avoid cracking it. Also, despite the little locking plastic piece that is supposed to keep it in place, the sliding gauge does not stay in place. I'd like it a lot more if it was all metal. br>br>There is a hole near the top of a rotating disc for drawing circles, but it is very small. A needle will fit, but a t-shirt will not. If you're working on a padded surface, you'll want to use a pin. So, good ideas but low-cost materials. br>br> Again.

This ruler's indicator stays put until I decide to move it, and it's easy to see
5/5

I've always used my mother's small metal rulers, but they didn't seem to be enough recently, especially after I discovered the little plastic indicator that rarely stayed in place while using my rotary cutter. When I saw this ruler by Nancy Zieman, whose television show I always enjoyed and who was a bit of a hero to me when I was first learning to sew, I decided to give it a try, and it has proven to be very effective. It's difficult to miss the indicator, which stays put until I decide to move it. My purchase has made me extremely happy.

This is beautifully made, but there is a flaw
3/5

The instructions on how to use it are not very clear, and I'm going to have a hard time figuring out how to use it. I'm dissatisfied with the way the instructions for using it are written. I would advise whoever is writing these instructions to reword them because they are ridiculous.

It has come in handy for this inexperienced sewer on numerous occasions and in various ways
5/5

I'm not a total noob when it comes to sewing, but it's not something I enjoy doing. I'm making a large set of lined specialty curtains for a one-of-a-kind situation in which they must be accurate to the 1/8 inch. This has come in handy for measuring seams, turning up hems, checking sewing distances, and keeping things straight. I believe it is worth the extra money over a cheaper one without the extension slide, as that feature has made my project so much easier. I would purchase it again and recommend it to others.

It shouldn't be necessary to give instructions to a ruler
3/5

When I set the guide to 2, I expected the distance between the end and the guide to be 2 inches, but it isn't. Another reviewer expressed her wish for directions to be included with the product. Now I understand what she's talking about. Despite being an older Nancy Z. ruler, this one is still useful. China produced the version. Clover is usually a high-quality Japanese-made product, so this was a disappointment. I was given a refund after returning it.

This was money well spent
5/5

I bought this a few months ago when I decided to move on from simple mending to actual creations with sewing. Since then, I've given one as a gift and recommended it to a friend. This little device has saved me from having to buy four different devices (five if I ever need a compass). It's more durable than the alternative I found at my local sewing store, and it's incredibly simple to use. I needed to add hem allowances to a 39"x78" project, and this made it a lot easier and faster than I expected. Because it has a lock mechanism that requires you to purposefully press down a release button in order to move the guide to a new measurement, I never had to readjust the guides back into position. It's fantastic that there are two rulers included - The top one was static, while the bottom one was adjustable, allowing me to ensure straight markings at all times and, in the case of a buttonhole, two markings at once. I used the button hole feature to mark the size and location of ribbon that would emerge from a gift bag. I simply draped the ribbon over the gauge, moved the ruler up to the bottom of the ribbon, and traced my markings onto the fabric. It was also very easy to make repetitive markings for various gift bags without having to worry about remeasuring because it locks in place. Because of the tight spacing in the middle, I was able to draw a straight line through the middle to guide me between the ends of my button hole. br>br>I even used it to wrap my gifts for Christmas. br>br>I strongly advise you to include this notion in your sewing kit.

This is a high-quality sewing machine
5/5

In my sewing room, I almost always use this gauge. In fact, I was so taken with the first one that I purchased two more. This is a very high quality tool, especially for being made of plastic, and I bought an extra to take to my quilting group sewing and an extra to use at my ironing board. But I shouldn't have been surprised because Nancys Notions products are consistently excellent. This is a versatile tool that can be used in a variety of situations. It's primarily used to measure seam and hem widths so that my work is straight, but it can also be used to work with buttonholes, buttons, and other items. This is a basic sewing tool that I recommend to anyone who wants to learn how to sew. It's not going to let you down.

What Would I Do If I Didn't Have A Locking Slide Gauge In My Sewing Room? This is what I used to keep the original hem on a pair of denim jeans
5/5

I'm completely sold on this gauge; it locks in place; previously, I had to constantly readjust the slide to the correct measurement when using the old metal slide gauge. This 5- The number one is superb. I was encouraged to give this a try after watching the YouTube demos, and I'm glad it now has a permanent home in my sewing room:.
