Questions & Answers

Is this a thick, heavy chipboard or a thin, cereal-box-thin material that can be cut with a die cutting machine?

It's definitely thicker than cereal box weight, but it can be used in a die cutting machine; I've used it with both wood and steel dies in both my Big Shot XL and my Accucut GrandMARK2. I haven't tried it with wafer dies (or anything delicate like them), and I wouldn't recommend it. I hope this information is useful.

Will this be compatible with handpunch shapes and handheld hole punchers? Is it too thick, or is it the other way around? Thanks! Do you have any stiff tags in square and circle shapes that I could use?

Handheld punches aren't recommended because the material is too thick. Croc- x- or dile both work. The acto knife, as well as the Big Shot or the Cricut, could be used. I've even made tags and circles out of cereal boxes, which works great and is inexpensive. Wishing you the best of luck with your endeavors!

How thick is the sheet's point weight? 20- pt, 30- pt, or a 50-point scale ?

It is, according to them. The thickness is 05. If . This should be 50 points instead of 46.

Selected User Reviews For Grafix Medium Weight 12 Inch by 12 Inch Chipboard Sheets, Black 25/Package (2 Pack)

I was disappointed to learn that it wouldn't work well with intricate cuts; as you can see in the photos, it began to rip as the Cricut Explore Air 2 began to make the tiniest of cuts
3/5

However, I was able to make use of the stack I received, and I'm happy with it. If you don't have a Cricut Maker, I recommend making your own material and cutting it at 350 degrees with four cuts and a deep cut blade. It doesn't go all the way through, but it does enough to make a difference.

What kind of laser cutter do you have? This product appealed to me and I believe it provided good value for money
4/5

Others should use, in my opinion. Thickness is a topic that has been raised in previous reviews. This material has a measurement of I needed stiffness, so I used a 050 inch thick board. br>I needed this material to use with a laser cutter to cut out parts. It makes a good cut. The only point I'd make is that there's a fine powder left over after cutting, so be prepared to clean it up. Other than that, using a laser cutter is a breeze. br>The supplier should be aware that one of the material stack's corners was dented. This wasn't terrible, but it did render some of the content useless. Shipping in a box rather than a bag is the way to go.

Discouraged- a complete waste of money This was labeled as medium weight chipboard, but it's much lighter than that
3/5

The edges are rough cut, as if the stack was cut with a dull blade. I'm not in a position to return the black and wait for more to arrive; the medium weight I bought from the same company was excellent, but this black is a complete letdown.

Scrapbooking is a breeze with this product
5/5

These were bought for scrapbooking purposes. Because my album is 6x12, I had to cut these in half, but a rotary paper cutter made it simple. br>br>These are extremely thick and sturdy, and they provide excellent support for heavy objects. In addition, the black color contrasts nicely with lighter items, making them stand out. br>br>However, for some reason, these shed, so when you take them out of the package, expect random bits of black cardboardy pieces to fall off the edges. Overall, if you're looking for a high-quality matte black background for scrapbooking, this is a fantastic option that I highly recommend.

Apart from that, it's sturdy and of good quality
3/5

For the most part, the product was as described and of good quality; however, I expected the edges of the boards to be smooth, and the entire package contained boards that were rough and shredded on one side, and the shreds of board flew everywhere when I opened the package. It was a complete disaster, and it didn't look good for the project I was working on.

Medium: In the middle of the thick and thin spectrum
4/5

I purchased both the natural and black versions of this product, and other than the color, I found them to be identical, so I'm giving both the same review. br>br>I agree with the complaints about the lack of information about the product's thickness. br>br>I'd like to thank PosionIvy for her review describing the thickness as "just shy of 1/16". That review convinced me to buy it, and it was correct. What does it mean to be "Medium Weight?" br>By PoisonIvybr> ordered this in natural and black colors, and the boards are consistently 1/16" thick. I'm using a ruler to measure, so it could be just under 1/16", but it's too close to tell. Because my boards allow for a small amount of compression, how and where it was stored and handled will be a consideration. br>br>In general, I'm pleased with the product, which I use to adhere printed card stock to for game chits. I've also used it as a foundation for wargaming terrain made out of papercraft. I used scrapbookers' spray adhesive, tacky glue, and glue sticks, and I was pleased with the results. I've used rotary cutters, compass cutters, circle cutters, and snapblade cutters, and while I'm still learning how to use compass cutters, I've found 2- A nice edge is achieved with three soft cuts. On new snapblades, I've been able to cut in a single pass, with the need for additional cuts mostly self-evident. I imposed it because I'd rather take a few careful cuts than risk messing it up with a single pass cut. br>br>I'll be ordering more of this once I run out.
