Several people in the reviews mentioned that the pieces were printed on both sides of the paper. Do you believe this to be ?

There were two sides to the pattern I received The size is 11x17, with 17 pages in total. In the case of a two-sided pattern like mine, you will need to have a copy made at a copy shop. In any other case, you will not be able to use it. I have made four elephant quilts and am cutting out another one which will be my fifth. This paper quilt was so much fun to make. If you have never worked with paper before- Although piecing might seem difficult, it is worth the effort you put in to accomplish it.

Would this suit a beginner or an intermediate student?

Do I need to make sure the pieces for a specific color are the right size? Do you have a trick or a simpler way to do it than cutting each piece with each other?

It is not possible to do this. To cut each piece, you simply need to measure it and cut it. Having to precut all the pieces at the same time is tedious, but there are simply too many.

Does the seam have a "Y"?

This isn't paper piecing, it's cutting out patterns from newspapers

Although it's double-sided on strange-sized paper, it's still an impressive design. This project was going to be my first paper pieced quilt, and it was so scary starting it off. Since I had not done it before, I had to get it copied and reprinted on 11X17 size paper. My obsession with sewing became insatiable once I got started. To make the border, I used leftover fabric from the front of the quilt to create the back of the quilt at a larger size. My overall time to complete the project was maybe a week. Freehand stitched around the elephants on the back fabric is all it took to stitch the whole thing together. I would totally make it again if the results were as good as this!.

A double-sided page is 2 pages on each side

Despite the fact that it's an excellent pattern, I feel like I should warn you about something. A pattern of 17 double-sided 11"x17" pages can be printed on If you want a single sided copy of a 34 page document at Staples, it will cost you $0. 34 each. The price per page ends up being $30, so one copy ends up being $10. This website could have been better suited to users if the creator had first provided a single sided copy or even formatted it to a standard copy size to begin with. Consequently, I would not be able to trace it using a light box and I don't own a printer that could print 11 x 17 prints. The reason I gave them five stars was that they managed to come up with such an intricate and beautiful Moreover, the way this information is laid out so clearly, I am sure that even a complete novice could tackle this project and have a lot of fun.

My favorite part of making this quilt was the cutting and sewing! It is an excellent design. In my background, I used gelato fabrics from EE Schenck!.

I love this pattern

It creates a wonderful quilt, and it's so fun to follow! Although I am not quite done with mine (got a few toes to go), I find it extremely relaxing. Located at the bottom of the pattern are copies of the original paper templates - this can be a negative. If so, is the paper large few people have home copiers that can do that, so you have to visit a copy shop. The project will be more expensive as a result of that.

The pattern sheets were printed on both sides and were too large for me Using my light box, I could have traced the patterns if the patterns were one sided.

This pattern is very pleasing to the eye. It is a little pricey for a pattern, but it has 11x17 pages that are double sided, and it has many Patterns were made for a total of 34 pages at a local copying place. Anyone who is interested in paper piecing should try it out.

One thing I wish Violet Craft offered is a package that included both the pattern and the printed copy. Since the page had to be printed on regular copy paper, it would be greatly preferred had it been on To make this pattern, you will need some experience in paper piecing. There are a lot of pieces, some of which are large, many of which are smaller, therefore making it more difficult to use the pattern.

This will be a great start to the semester! Having never completed a quilt before, I find the instructions rather lacking, considering that I am a beginner in quilting

My guess is that this is better suited to more experienced quilters, but I'll sure have fun learning to do it. The fact that it does not look exactly correct does not matter since it's an abstract, so that would just add to its overall.
