Questions & Answers
To iron out your piece of fabric, I wouldn't recommend using this wool pressing mat on top of your cutting mat. Nothing will shield your cutting mat from the heat generated by your iron. To be sure, place the wool pressing mat on another surface first, iron your fabric, and see if the underside of the mat or the other surface gets stained before transferring it to your cutting mat.
Why not? I'm not sure. My table is a "standard" heavy plastic folding table that I use. I also have a small steam iron that I use. There are many "diy" pressing boards available, and the base is made of wood. I hope this information is useful.

It's easy to use this wool pressing mat. I don't need to bring out my ironing board to iron a small piece of fabric. Quilting is something I do with it. Love it!.
I enjoy quilting, so I appreciate the fact that the wool pad aids in achieving a crisp press. On the other hand, there should be no moisture under the pad on the table. I didn't expect the heat to penetrate the entire wool pad, but it did.
It works great; there is a damp spot under the mat, but that isn't a problem; however, if you have a table that shouldn't get wet, it may not work.
Instead of having to bring out the big ironing board, I like how compact it is.
I love pressing open my seams with this mat. With very little effort, it works great!.
It's a lot easier to press crisp seams when you have this tool. It's a good size for my ironing board, and it fits nicely on top of it.
