Hoops with a square base are much better than round ones! In addition to the 11 x 11, I have placed an order for the 6 x 6. There is nothing I love more than these. You can save material by stitching squarely on a surface. There are so many ways to do corners! hoops are much tighter than traditional round hoops and hold for a much longer period of time. Getting them tighten up is really simple. It takes only a tiny bit for the clamps to come back into place and BAM! They're tight. The only hoop I will ever use is this one. This hoop still holds special memories for me 18 months after purchasing it. It took a while to wear out the clamps. In order to clamp a piece of fabric, I put one under the clamp. When I finished them, I lamented the sharp, curved lines on the fabric that I had gotten by using hoops. Thankfully, this lovely product takes care of that trouble, and the larger diameter of the tubes makes it very convenient to use. The only thing I've used before is a wooden cross stitch stand to maintain the fabric tension as I dislike using hoops because they create creases. Due to my aging eyes, I am finding it increasingly difficult to see with the wooden stand I have. It is bulky, does not take all sizes of cloth, and is bulky and hard to clean. It was frustrating and unproductive for me to use frames for stitching because I had to sew my fabric into them or keep purchasing adhesive velcro, depending on how they were supposed to be attached, and no matter what I tried I was never able to Perforated plastic (which I still love) is what I mostly use now so I won't have to worry about I joined a stitching group, however, and my group has been praising this thing since I joined, so for the price, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Also, it may be easier to load the fabric when it is not so close to the frame size. For this project, the cloth just covers the frame on both sides, with little to no excess hanging off. In either case, this is a fine frame, and well worth the price.
