The drying time is too long for me to wait for days before applying the next color, and I have no time to wait.
I captured the foreground of my photo as a proof press of the phlanto blue compared to the original proof which was inked with water based speedball ink. Eventually, I'll get to focus on the absorption and "dryness" time completely, but I anticipate that should not be an issue if you aren't pressed for time. This will be a few days process based on how long the single colors have taken. I was blown away by this pigment it was very opaque, thick, and easily spread with no need for mineral spirits at all. The fact that they're that good has me buying a color a week at this point.
Nevertheless, do not open them up until you are certain you are ready to do so. I took the plastic skin off the cans and tapped the bottom of the cans to get rid of air bubbles that were caused by the cans being placed upside down in the box. In a few cases, some of the cans leaked and others were caused by air bubbles. All in all, I recommend these for intermediate printmakers and I see myself using them for a very long time to come.
Though it will take 4 years for the wood to dry.
I was looking forward to getting It would be better if the consistency was better and the printing results better but the ink dries incredibly slowly. After printing this image on a thin blank MDF panel (which seems to be less porous than I anticipated) and an acrylic painted panel, the ink is still tacky to the touch almost 10 days after printing. Although it has been in a sunny window in a dry studio, I am still waiting for it to In the future, I will have to estimate the drying time prior to any Sadly, the tin container in which the ink is contained isn't up to par, and two of the tins were crushed during.
This is not what I expected. I will let you know how well it prints with the remaining ink I have.
Because I've only been learning block printing for a few months, I have not tried other brands. However, these inks are a HUGE upgrade from Speedball's starter kit. With the process color inks, I've gotten beautiful results with fine details, and the exact shade I'm looking for comes out perfectly. It dries smoothly to a velvety finish on smooth paper with good opacity. Using the included retarder will allow your clothes to dry more slowly if they are drying too fast. However, I am working small and have not seen any problems with dry time. is the ink extender because it makes my ink last longer This is the way I make my layers transparent for different color interactions. The only flaw I notice is that there is a texture here when I roll the ink out if I use too much extender. It might be my brayer that is the problem.
A pro is Due to my use of Lino printmaking I like the black color and thickness of this product. There is no other place on earth where you can find such depth. It has been a while since I tried a brand new one. The following disadvantages The mess is extreme. I would recommend going for a tube of ink if you have never worked with loose ink before. It is best to clean this up with water and Dove dish detergent if you happen to come into contact with it. DON'T get lazy and wait until the following day to tidy The task will be more challenging.
