Mine had been scratched and was peeling away. I followed the video's instructions, which basically said to use a q-tip to apply this cream generously to both sides of each lens. Allow for a 5-minute rest period after tipping. After that, gently rub the lenses with your thumb while rinsing with warm water. (Wear vinyl gloves. ) Wipe the film away with a soft cloth. My glasses actual lenses are still scratched a little but they are 90% better than before. I strongly advise you to give it a shot. It will set you back only ten dollars.
For a first-timer, this is ideal. If you want these results, leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse it off! I assure you that it will not harm the glass:.
Today was my first etching project, and I used this product. It works quickly, within three minutes of application, but because it is an acid, you must use it with extreme caution and wear gloves and eye protection. Also, because etching glass requires such precision, make sure your stencil is firmly adhered to the glass with no crinkles or raised edges. Because the etching acid will seep beneath any raised areas and ruin your project, it's a good idea to rinse the product off of your glass while holding it under running water and using a fine bristled brush to remove any remaining product from your stencil and glass. When removing the stencil and coming into contact with the product, you don't want to risk leaving acid behind; this isn't a product for children or anyone who is careless or irresponsible.
It's what I use for a lot of my etching projects on glass. Dollar store glass is transformed into fantastic gifts. I just wish there was a little more bang for your buck. Fortunately, the used cream can be scraped off and returned to the jar for reuse.
I went on YouTube and tried all the crazy things they had on there on my glasses and none of them worked, so I got this. I had to repeat it three times because it said it would take no more than 5 minutes, but I couldn't be happier with my glasses now, they look brand new, and this works.
I tried a second glass and left the etching cream on for 15 minutes, as suggested by the instructions, but it didn't work. After that, I couldn't see the design at all. My eyes were also irritated. When using this etching cream, be sure to use safety glasses and gloves. This product did not work for me, so I do not recommend it.
I did not receive the order that I had placed. It's not the new formula because the label is blue! It's so convenient that the item has a no-return policy! This isn't the first time I've worked with etch cream; however, the bottle I received was not sealed, despite the fact that it was full. There is a noticeable difference in the thickness of the cream compared to what it should be. I did use it for one project, but it did not turn out well. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Purchase this item at your own risk!.
