This is because it is a fragile circuit board that will get damaged. But there is no need to worry since once you stick it where you want, it stays put.
My light can only be turned on when I press the switch on the light itself. I have mine plugged into a surge protector thing along with my sewing machine. If I flick the switch on the protector on then off then on the light stays off until I push the switch on the light. Do you understand what I am saying.

You did a great job! There are 5 sets of LED light strips that I have ordered for my 5 different sewing machines, and this one is by far the best. The light is easy to install and there are plenty of clips (5) to route the cord. It is bright and easy to switch on and off. Great to have a USB option too. It's worth the $10 price tag and I would purchase it again without hesitation. LED strips I previously bought cost me nearly $50 less than this one. It's a pleasure to be of assistance Wenice. I am really impressed with this product!.
This is the first time I have given a product a 4 star rating, but whilst it does provide very bright light, the pointer is not visible at all - it's not the light or near the needle that's missing. The light is not coming to where I need it to most. I have a Janome DC3050, and I suspect that the design of this model prevents the illumination needed. Initially, I experimented with different ways to lay out the strip by using tape, as some suggested. Since the strips are cut every two inches, I had the option of having it about 1/2 inch too long or 1 1/2 inches too short. Because it was too long, the cable had to be scrunched at the bottom of the machine, which I hope won't hurt it on the surface. If I had been able to find the perfect length, it would only have provided light under the main part of the machine. Near the needle, no additional light is added. Getting it to turn off took some practice. It's fairly easy to dim and brighten, but it did take a few taps to get it to turn off. I also discovered that Wenice also sells a magnetic COB light for the back of the machine (click on the box on the same page next to the led strip description), and afterward I thought it would have been better. After that, I realized that the magnet cannot be used since the machine is mostly plastic. There is a gooseneck on that light, which is intended to direct the light where it is.
I am so glad that the sewing area is brighter now. What a great idea! With this, I can sew all day in the day without worrying about shadows on my old sewing machine. I've normally been limited to sewing at certain times of the day, but this is great for sewing in the evenings. It is a good idea to use LED lights with an even brightness. The cord fits right onto my machine, and the enclosed stick on clips keep it secure. The off/on switch for touchlights can be operated simply by sliding a finger across it. There is no fumbling or hassle involved. My favorite part of this clear lighting strip is how bright it is. This sheet comes with easy to read marking that shows where to cut for adjustment to your machine, and fits wide-necked harps and small harps. This backing sticks very tightly to any surface, making it very easy to push and form it to cleanly follow contours and fit perfectly. The service is excellent, and I am happy with it. The package arrived very quickly and was well packaged.
There are two lamps and an overhead light as well as the LED lights on my sewing machine, and yet I still couldn't see fine details well enough to do the A couple of the lights under the arm illuminate the area where the needle is. It is long enough to go around the whole machine, down the side, and parallel to the front. This is a very strong adhesive that will stick well to the machine. It made sense to me to turn on the lights and let the strip warm before I applied it, since I have worked with craft products long enough to know this is best practice. My favorite part of this light is the color! There's no problem with the plug in cord, but I wish it were a little longer. Lamp is bright and shiny, and it has a good length. Then and now.
These were just installed today and seem to be working well. The clips were attached by only a few little clips and installed in under 2 minutes. We learned that you can adjust brightness by holding your finger on the touch switch or tapping the switch to turn it bright, so I chose not to cut them into smaller pieces for the little bit of It made sewing a bit easier after the installation since I used them as sewing needles.
