That makes me so happy! punched a hole in my pocket by investing $60 in dyeing a 25+ year old leather sofa, and it paid dividends
5/5

Though the sofa was still in great physical condition, it was a bit ugly because of years of kids and pups trying to climb up the edges. In my case, I did it like this 1 .

2. In the end, I wiped it down with baby wipes - From the internet, I found this suggestion. The money I spent was wasted. Just a damp microfiber cloth would have done the trick just as well. By the way, you may want to invest approximately 20 microfiber cloths (available from Amazon) for this project. In my case, I used Fiebings DeGlazer to deglaze it with microfiber cloths. I found that it achieved exceptional results, but had the worst odor I have ever experienced in my entire life. Do it outside. Do not do it around pets or small children. During the first few days, the chemical smell will permeate every corner of your house, your hair, and your skin. It will take several days for the smell to go away. Rubber gloves are a must (after all, your skin is a form of leather). As the sofa was so old, I anticipated very little glaze would remain after use. That is why I only bought one bottle of deglazer. The bottle could have easily held three litres of water. Like taking off nail polish, it can be done by soaking in water. You will be able to remove gunky, gloppy color with the first two or three attempts. If your cloth doesn't come clean after several scrubs, then keep trying. 1. 2. 3. It is best to allow the materials Find oxygen and breathe it in. 4 * . The first coat took two bottles, as the dry leather absorbed the dye right away. I used two bottles of Fieblings chocolate dye for this project. Lay down a plastic drop cloth (it will make a mess right through the fabric), and use several layers of disposable gloves each time. When you look at it, it will appear quite uneven, and you will have a "What did I do" Compared to the first coat, the second one is Upon applying a third or fourth coat of varnish, the leather may appear iridescent in some areas. If you use a sponge to spread the dye, do not do so. To use the wool dauber, use the one that came with the kit. Using this method will prevent the dye from bubbling and leaving bumpy or blotchy patches. It also ensures that the dye does not spill and gives you more control over the application. Strokes in a circular pattern should NEVER be used. To paint downward, make sure you use the same direction for all strokes. You could also use the dauber to get into the cracks and seams Try to sink as deep as you can between the cushions. First time someone with a big bottom sits on that sofa, those cushions separate and show big, undyed color gaps. Now is the time to dye it, because later you won't be able to match any spots that you have missed. Daubers should not be needed in addition to those provided.

Each box comes with a new dauber, and they last a long time. (I used about half a bottle for the last coat. ) After letting it dry for at least an hour or two between coats, I applied five Additionally, extra dye was put down on the seats and armrests since they were the most worn out. Five additional items. Overnight is the best time to allow the final coat to dry. You should rub it down vigorously with microfiber cloths until you do not see color bleeding onto the cloths any longer. The sixth one. After this, I applied a light coat of Leather Honey (available from You may not need to dye your sofa or chair with Leather Honey if you are unfamiliar with it. honey is a fantastic product that will mask cat scratches and other damage caused by cats. As a result, I gave the sofa a coat of moisture. The 7th point. I used 2 fieblings Resolene bottles in a dark brown color. cloth and rubbed it into the sofa - it was sticky and unpleasant to the touch Once again, disposable gloves should be used. In a similar way to a top coat of nail polish, it seals and leaves a pleasantly soft finish There is a toned glaze applied to the leather, which makes it appear Make sure to let it dry overnight, unless you're like me and it just doesn't dry fast enough! As soon as you see your results, you can't wait to style your "new" couch. Your friends will be amazed when they see the new furniture, and they will be stunned when they find out it is the old mangy one you have magically repaired. You should also have excuses ready when they ask you to dye theirs. My investment in this project was $60, including a box of gloves and cloths leftover from another project, and I spent three to four hours at night for about five to six I can promise you it will be a tough project. You will have to deal with stinky deglazer, and an intimidatingly messy dye experiment. It's possible, however, that you will end up salvaging a nice sofa if you stay patient. How about knowing that a thick, high-quality bag can keep your valuables safe and secure? How is it that a leather sofa now costs over $3000? The reason we take these risks, my friends, is because we don't know what the future will hold. Now that the job has been completed for five weeks, it officially ends. I still noticed a small amount of dye coming up at first, but after weeks of animals (sometimes wet ones like my dog and cats) lounging on it, I would say the dye has It was uncomfortable for the first few weeks, but now I would wear light clothes on it without a second thought. In spite of the fact that the first two bottles of dye were not adequate to cover the piece, I am very pleased at how this project turned out, and how quickly I was able to get additional supplies. My heart would beat faster if I were to do this again. In the light colored photo, you can see what the photo looked like originally. On the left is a photo of how the first coat looked going on, and the right shows how the seats absorbed far more than they should have. This is the third photo, which shows some iridescence and uneven color from the dye. (It evens out when it is glazed. ) In the fourth photo, you can see the sofa after being treated with Leather Honey, before it is coated with glaze. In the last image you can see how the old sofa looks now after 25 years.

Restore the look and feel of your couch! In order to add a fresh coat of paint to a used faux leather couch I bought, I bought this
5/5

On the couch, there were scratches and wear spots on the seats. In some areas, it looked ashy. It looked like it was brand new after using this product! The stain was applied liberally with a handful of cotton balls, gloves, and in a circular motion with the stain. As a final step, I rubbed the couch with baby oil to remove any remaining residue. It dried quickly. It is beyond my wildest imagination to think of how happy I am with the end result!.

The only problem is that it is too I didn't expect it to be much darker than it was
4/5

It's great, just darker than I I just wanted to let you know that you cannot return this product. My advice would be to buy something lighter than what you think you need and apply two or three.

It was a good dye
5/5

This was my first use of the tool, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. The directions said to wet the leather first before applying the dye. That wasn't what I did. I do however have an extremely dark notebook cover. However, it did get all over my hands while using this product, so using gloves is highly recommended.

The color is rich and dark
4/5

didn't expect the shoes to be as dark as they are, but I actually like the new color better than they were originally! Dark brown is the color. I liked how easily the product applied, and it was very pleased with the results.

The stuff is good

For $40, we used it in conjunction with a brown dye on a leather recliner that was stained it made a difference in a few areas, and the dye and dye helped transform the chair. It is impossible to beat.

There are but a few problems and have applied eight coats of paint to some boots, and the color has not balanced out.

I find that it works very well A different color should have been used
5/5

In any case, I used it. I think it looks awesome as well. The headboard is only usable after taking a look at If it had been reupholstered, you probably would have done so. I went this route because it'll give me a significant amount of time before I need to reupholster.
