Selected User Reviews For Mixed Media Pad Sketchbook - 3pk of 30 Sheets 5.5x8.5" - 90 Total 140lb/300gsm - Smooth Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper - Art Journal Spiral Bound Sketchpad - for Watercolor Paint, Acrylic, Pen, Pencil
I believe this would work well with all dry media, including graphite, charcoal, and crayons (oil pastels, soft pastels, and water soluble crayons), as well as pen and ink. This paper is truly fantastical, and I wish it came in larger sizes such as 9x12, 11x14, and even 12x12. Two of my watercolor practice pages are shown below. Because the paper tends to curl, I'd suggest removing the sheet and taping it down for a masterpiece.
I've been painting with watercolors on this paper, and it's held up well. I tape it to a board and let it dry before removing the tape. It will curl at first, so after 48 hours, I flatten the paintings/paper by pressing it in a pad with a light weight on top for a few days. When wet, a lot of "watercolor" papers curl and fall apart. This is a more powerful variation. I'm used to painting on canvas with oils and acrylics. I'm new to watercolors and painting on paper, so there are probably better papers out there, but I'm satisfied with this one. I bought some other papers that claimed to be 140lb archival watercolor papers, but they didn't work at all. I only gave it three stars because it is not overly thick in comparison to some higher-end watercolor papers, but it is thick and sturdy enough, so three stars isn't a bad thing. I also only gave it three stars for warmth because it is not particularly warm, and it is white, rather than the yellow or sepia tint that some people prefer. This paper is a crisp white, which is exactly what I was looking for. There would have been more stars if the question had been about a clean white look rather than warmth.
For my own personal use, I purchased this set of three mixed media pads. I am not a professional artist, but I enjoy drawing and working with mixed media in my art journals. The quality and thickness of this paper really impressed me. It's silky smooth, easy to draw on, and won't warp or bleed through any medium you throw at it. It also has nice perforated pages that make removing the pages a breeze. I haven't been able to find a good quality hot pressed, heavy weight paper that isn't professional grade without spending a lot of money. to the present time. This is a fantastic deal in my opinion. I'm certain I'll buy from you again!.
It's also a beautiful size. I also appreciate how true to size it is. So it says 5x8, and it's 5x8 to the perforations, so you get the size you ordered, which I've discovered isn't always the case with other brands. I'd definitely buy more book sizes if they were available! Plus, there's some lovely art work on the front, which you can't beat, and it's all for a reasonable price:.
They're really nice, with smooth, thick pages; I'm now a big fan of hot-pressed watercolor paper! I'll be ordering more of these books for watercolor practice, mixed media work, and art journaling in the future!.
Despite the fact that I used a lot of water in the second picture. However, if you repeatedly wet the surface of the paper, it will not be as flat when it dries. It'll be a curve on a spot that's been painted several times.
I really liked these notebooks for mixed media art because they can hold both watercolor and acrylic paint. br>I went so far as to buy some for my daughter.
These are being used as a watercolor idea sketchbook. Although it is not of the same high quality as arches paper, it performs admirably in both wet on wet and wet on dry situations.
