Everything else seems fine about it, except for the cream paper. As a result of the box being bent, one of the corners of the sketchpad is slightly dinged - not a big deal if you ask me, however, I bought the paper to frame with white mat board - and the colors are going to clash horribly. It is not stated on the cover of the pad or in its description that it is cream paper.
It is impossible for me to do this on normal printing paper because it is so thin that ink will bleed all the way through, and printer paper is flimsy, so it is difficult to repeatedly examine or to handle repeatedly during a While I would like to use my fine art paper or sketch pad, the prospect of using it would be a waste and would be quite costly. Here is You can use it. With this really big, thick (enough) book I am able to fill it with all kinds of gel-pens to my heart's content You can make notes about the Krebs cycle or make a tree of virus families. The fact that I am allowed to use expensive, high quality art materials while also using a decent paper that works perfectly for my purpose will not make me feel guilty.
Can I incorporate this into my final piece of artwork? There is no. What if I wanted to keep my artwork? Would I use this? Probabilities are not good. However, if you are a beginner and churn out sketches quickly and burn through sketchbooks, this might be the solution for you. It's cheap and will perfectly suffice for small doodles, rough sketches, and general practice.
I must have unpacked the sketch pad from the carton using the wrong tools since the tooth on the canson xl 50lb sketch pad is much rougher than the previous three I've purchased from Carter Sexton. However, the sheets fell out of the box once I unpacked it. Probably won't buy anything online again. I'll buy some extra clamps and get some of those.
There is a good quality to the paper, and the spiral and cover are sturdy enough to protect my artwork. The sketchbook is shaped like a book, but is designed to either sit flat on a table or hang from In the event that you want to prop the whole sketchbook up against something and draw in it, you will be unable to keep it upright. It works pretty well with the perforated edge, but I typically cut something with scissors because I don't want to risk getting cut.
We are very satisfied with the quality. This would definitely be a purchase I would make Only issue I had was that I could easily pull off the cover, and several pages slipped out of the back as well. While the quality wasn't great for just sketching, it was okay for just tracing. If you are looking for paper that doesn't come out as easily, it would be wise to buy mixed media Canson paper.
There's a lot of flaws in this paper. You get a feeling like when you wipe your eraser on newsprint too often and the paper becomes The green "Drawing" line is better, and the "Universal" is my favorite. In my sketchbooks I use Prismacolor Colerase pencils almost exclusively. Very occasionally, I use a brush pen or marker, but mostly I just sketch with a My favorite size was out of stock in the XL Drawing line and the Canson Universal were backordered and priced insanely high. I decided to get these sketchbooks because the Canson Universal were out of stock in the size I wanted.
The paper I received is exactly as described, I happen to have several XL Mixed Media books like this and find that I prefer the heavier weight of Canson paper, and I like the color saturation. ) I will probably rehome this one to someone who.
As for this sort of thing, it's still paper, so I can't complain too much. A large enough size to make drawings look professional, but not so thick that I cannot use it to trace without wasting Pencil, gel pens, sharpies, and prismacolor pencils are some of my preferred mediums. As of yet, I haven't used this enough to determine whether Sharpies or Gel Pens will bleed through, but as a rule you should always place something underneath the page to protect it. On the inside cover of the book, there is a reference showing that this particular paper (XL Sketch) receives a rating of 1 star (good) for colored pencils and ink and 3 stars (Exceptional).
