Questions & Answers

Could you please let me know if the pages are perforated so that they can be easily removed?

This is a bound art journal, so they aren't open. This little book is beautifully bound, and I adore it. I can paint on the next page because the pages fold all the way back.

Is this a cotton item?

Arteza's premium paper is made of wood pulp and is available in a variety of colors. Cotton is used for the expert paper. It also mentions the paper's dual-sided nature. It's not double-sided, and it's put together in a haphazard manner. The cold pressed texture appears on the left side of the page, on the right side of the page, and every now and then, a two-page spread appears. The only disappointment is that on the cold pressed side, it is a good paper; however, the other side pills and removes layers of the paper!

Has anyone found a tape that will play without ripping on this notebook? When I'm painting, I use white masking tape, and it rips a lot?

If the gum starts to peel up the paper when you try to remove it with blue painter's tape, a blow dryer set on low or a heat gun will loosen the gum and it will peel up easily. If a sticky residue remains, a hard rubber eraser or a kneadable eraser can easily remove it. Green tape also works well because it leaves little to no residue when removed; just be careful not to burnish it down. I haven't tried it on this paper, but it comes up easily on good watercolor paper (cotton rag, for example) and leaves no sticky "evidence" of its presence. Brown paper tape is an additional option.br>br> It's what we used to stretch watercolor paper in school, and it works perfectly. br>One of the great mysteries of the universe is how it knows when to release when it's time, but I'm content to accept the mystery and let it do its thing. br>When buying brown paper tape, make sure it isn't "archival quality" and doesn't say "permanent," or you'll be stuck with it indefinitely.

I was wondering if I could watercolor on both sides on 148 pages or only 74 pages because I want to use it as a bullet journal. ?

My current project is a 38-page book with a plastic envelope attached to the back cover that measures approximately 5x8 inches. I use both sides of the canvas to paint on. Watercolor, gouache, and mixed media are some of my favorite mediums to work with. As a result, I have 76 pages to play with in the book.

Selected User Reviews For Arteza Watercolor Sketchbook, 8.3 x 5.1 Inches, 76-Page Journal with 110lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper, Inner Pocket, and Elastic Strap, Art Supplies for Watercolor and Mixed Media

Two different textures, but they're both fantastic!   With cold pressed textured paper on both sides of each sheet, it is not as described! Aside from that, the paper held a lot of water, the paint worked well on it, and you CAN still paint on the smooth side, albeit with a more wet-on-dry technique, or use it for scratching instead
4/5

Regardless, there are plenty of textured sheets (30-45) to go around. ish) in it to make it worthwhile as a journal for $10!.

Inconsistencies in bound paper; Still a good choice for pre- the job The proportions and structure appeal to me
3/5

One annoyance is that, despite the fact that this product is advertised as having double sides, each sheet has a fiber side and a smooth side. Woe betide anyone who makes light pencil marks on the smooth side to be erased; it tears the paper into a waste of time, and even the tiniest touch mars it. The rougher side, which has more tooth for watercolors, is fine for pencil and erasing before painting; however, I noticed that the smooth side lacks color control and bleeds horribly. While these aren't deal breakers because you can choose which side you want to use, they aren't ideal. The issue arises from the fact that they are randomly placed in the binding during construction. So, if you only want to use side A so that your book uses the same page on each opening, it's never the same type. It's all over the place at the moment. You'll have to go with side A. Leave C and go to B. D blank. That's both inconvenient and wasteful. br>I've started to use the smooth sides for sketching and more rough designs and notes, and the actual watercolor side for my more polished designs. This will most likely irritate you if you're overly concerned with streamlining your sketchbooks. In addition, the entire pad's corner edges are uneven, but this isn't a problem for me. br>For the money and value, it's adequate, especially for travel or pre-travel. It has a good composition. I wouldn't suggest sketching, painting, and selling directly from these papers. br>In the case of the producer- I'd like to see all of the papers bound in the same direction. I'd never stop buying these journals for the rest of my life if that one small change was made; as it is, I'm still looking for a replacement.

Make sure you don't throw your money away
3/5

This product's description is entirely false. There are no 152 pages in this book. There are 76 sheets in 152 pages. There are 37 sheets in total, including the inside covers, for a total of 76 PAGES. The "dual sided" paper is not cold pressed on both sides as stated in the description. On one side, it's cold pressed, and on the other, it's smooth. Both of these facts are listed on the cover and can be seen in the product image above- But, foolishly, I assumed the description was correct and didn't bother zooming in on the photos to double-check. br>br>Unfortunately, the smooth side of the paper doesn't seem to be very suitable for watercolors (I'm a relative beginner but even I can tell it's not behaving like watercolor paper ought to), and what's worse is that you can't just skip the smooth pages because they're not oriented so all the fronts are textured and the backs are smooth. Two smooth pages are followed by two textured pages in a spread. br>br>I would not have bought it if I had known any of this, but I've already begun painting in it, so I'm stuck with it. I wouldn't waste my money on this sketchbook because there are so many others available.

Good papers, but they are easily damaged when washi tapes are applied
3/5

The paper is of good quality. It can hold a lot of water without buckling too much. It is a reasonable price. The only issue I have with these books is that when I remove washi tapes from them, the paper becomes damaged. So it's a bit of a bummer for me because I love using washi tapes on my sketchbooks.

Almost immediately, the binding broke
3/5

The binding broke almost immediately; I was only about three pages in when the pages began to separate from the binding. However, I am a big fan of the paper.

THE BEST JOURNAL ON THE MARKET
5/5

I've bought a lot of these in the last few months in the hopes of finding a more affordable, attractive, and high-quality color journal. I wanted all of the fancy ones from European countries, and I did purchase one of them. I bought these because I've always had good luck with the Arteza line and they were quite small, totaling 32 pages (both sides), vinyl cover, and very, very expensive. When they arrived, it was a pleasant surprise! Medium beige linen covers, loose page straps that don't scratch your paintings, four times the pages, and a low price. I got two in comparison to one Euro. The paper is thick, cold pressed, with a back cover envelope, and it's one of the best I've found and bought this year. Excellent price on excellent papers. Arteza has established itself as a reliable source of information. As a direct result of their papers, I'm now working for a product company.

The search for a good sketchbook has come to an end
5/5

I've experimented with a number of different sketchbooks. 'Mixed media' is a term used to describe a group of works that With the exception of one, none of them were particularly impressive, but they all functioned satisfactorily. Stillman and Birn, on the other hand, did not succeed. It was pricey and didn't hold up well when it came to wetting and removing watercolors - Before the paper started to fail, you only got a chance to do it once or twice. I was extremely disappointed because it was the most I had ever paid for a sketchbook. It has now been relegated to the pages of a workbook. br>br>As a result, I ordered the Arteza pair in a fit of rage - BETTER THAN BREAD THAT HAS BEEN SLICED I'm in awe of how well these books have been put together. The page is smooth on one side and lightly textured on the other. br>When Arteza designed these books, they were thinking - The pages aren't only dual-sided, but they're also multi-colored. They're dual-sided in the sense that each spread has the same surface on both pages. The cloth covers are a nice touch, and the bindings are sewn. The paper is also weighty. br>br>As far as I can tell, the only drawback is that they are printed and bound in China - If the books were made somewhere else, I'd gladly pay a dollar more per book - Czechoslovakia, Italy, France, Spain, Japan, Portugal, and other countries are among them. In any case, I'll have to improve significantly in order to be considered worthy of these books!.

Arteza makes some excellent products
4/5

Travel watercolor book and good practice paper. One aspect of the paper that I dislike is the various textures. One side has a cold press feel to it, while the other has a hot press feel to it. Aside from that, I'm satisfied.
