On this paper, I like to use pastels. The images appear to be very nice, and they're simple to blend in. It appeals to my tastes. I only used two sheets, so I'll have to decide whether I want to use more.
I also purchased the 320 grade for use with soft pastels as a comparison. Actually, something in the middle would be ideal, because the 500 lacked the necessary "tooth" to hold the pastel. In terms of the paper itself, it comes in a nice cardboard envelope with a handy dispenser. A passerby wanted to buy a piece I finished in plein air once, so I sold it with the handy envelope to protect it. It's perfect.
This is a fantastic tooth. Soft and hard pastels can both be used with this palette. It takes a lot of layers. Paper of choice.
A wet or dry underpainting can be used with the paper. It can hold a lot of pastel layers.
Multiple layers of pastels can be held in place thanks to the texture.
To achieve my desired outcomes, I typically use a combination of watercolors, coffee, soft pastels, stitched thread, glitter, spray paint, charcoal, PanPastels, graphite, acrylic paint, oil pastels, creamy chalk markers, and colored pencils. I can always count on these sheets! br>br>I will say that once a medium has been applied, they tend to curl up at the edges, so to avoid this, I simply tape a painter's tape border around the sheet's edges (sticky side up), and then tape a slightly larger rectangular border down on top of that - affixing it to a hard backing sheet or piece of cardboard, which will keep the paper exposed all the way to the edges while remaining perfectly flat throughout all of your future creative endeavors! I keep a few packages on hand at all times.
