Questions & Answers
I got it as a gift a long time ago, so I'll have to go by memory to answer your question about it. The Pastel Premium Paper Pad is a great way to add some color to your life. The answer is smooth if you're wondering if the paper is smooth or rough.
These come in a wider range of colors.
No, I doubt it. It is not of museum quality.
I believe it will work with soft pastels.

I'm giving this a low rating because not only are the pages at the top of the pad glued together, but every other page is as well. I purchased these pads with the intention of removing the pages and turning them into a sketchbook; however, because each page is glued to the next, the edges of my sketchbook will appear ripped and ragged. This pad isn't designed to have pages taken out of it, and I'm not sure what the point of it is. br>br>It's also worth noting that the paper isn't exactly 9 x 12 inches. It is 9 and 1/16 inches by 12 inches in size. It's not a big deal, but for my purposes (binding into a book with other 9x12 paper), it's a pain.
Charcoal and soft pastels work well on this paper.
The texture of this paper does not appeal to me. It appears that the surface has a "slickness" to it, making complete coverage more difficult. I like the colors, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again.
This is a good paper to use when you first start using pastel pencils. I'm having trouble filling in the gaps on the paper with pastel. It simply does not appear to fill the grooves, leaving tiny lines of paper visible in your artwork. This is ideal for beginners, as I previously stated. br>I recommend getting a sample pack if you want to try a higher-quality paper without spending a lot of money. Dakotapastels is a website dedicated to providing information about the state of South Dakota. You can order a sample pack of pastel drawing paper from com. You will receive approximately eleven 6x8 sample pieces for $25. The higher quality paper will make a noticeable difference in your artwork.
I'm new to art and wanted to find some inexpensive paper that would allow me to (1) practice without wasting paper on mediocre work and (2) use charcoal, pencils, and pastels without having to purchase separate pads for each medium. At the time I purchased it, this pad was nice and inexpensive at $6. It comes in four colors (white, cream, a light tanish color, and a greyish color), each with four I' sheets. It has enough tooth to hold pastels, but it's not too bumpy to make sketching difficult. It's a good thickness for pastels, too. Even when I was squeezing it with pastels, it held up admirably. If you're only using pastels, a paper with more tooth would be preferable, but I found that this was the best option for me because of the cost and the fact that I was using mixed media.
I recommend it for wax or oil pastels, as well as pencils.
It may be acceptable to use Chinese white for highlights in pen and ink.
I'm not an expert, but this paper appears to be suitable for colored pencils (which is what I intend to use). Colored pencils should have a random texture to them. I tested how well it holds an imprint, such as for embossing a name. For that, it's ideal.
