Selected User Reviews For LaCarte Pastel Card Block- Twelve 12x15-3/4 Inch Sheets
This is a thick substrate that is almost as thick as card stock. It has a fine grit surface and is great to work with because it holds a lot of pastel and allows for layering and changes. To make changes without harming the surface, you can remove some of the pastel with a brush. I used to work on paper (Canson Mi Tientes), but the La Carte has spoiled me to the point where I can no longer go back. It's a lot of money - You don't want to throw anything away, do you? As a result, I've developed better habits about planning design and color schemes before starting work on the LaCarte. The 12 x 16 format appeals to me. I prefer to work in a small scale and up close. With a 2 inch mat, the 12 x 16 frames become a 16 x 20 frame, which is a standard size. The only thing that worries me is that To begin, keep the La Carte dry. Dry over wet techniques are not recommended because even a small drop of water can ruin the surface. Second, I wish the pads were only available in one color, a light-colored light-colored light-colored light-colored light-colored light-colored light-colored light-colored light- tone in the middle of the spectrum I'm not a big fan of black and have no desire to try out different substrate colors. The other colors are fine, but I'd rather have a single color option for the pads. I'm hoping you're listening, Sennelier. I have sanded substrate rolls as well, but the 12 x 16 is much more practical.
It can take a lot of color and still hold it all together. Even with harder pastels, where I have to press hard to get color to lay down, the gritty surface of this paper effortlessly pulls it off the stick. It's also made of thick, durable paper, similar to card stock. Although it is the most expensive of the paper pads, Amazon appears to have the best prices.
Although the bottom left corner has crumbled, I still need the pad and will keep it, though I am disappointed.
It's pricey, but it's well worth it, and it's my favorite paper to work on.
