Questions & Answers

Is this a "smooth" or a "rough" texture?

The paper is ROUGH newsprint. If you're looking for a substitute for Strathmore smooth newsprint, this isn't it. Be aware.

Is this transparent, like typing paper, and can I trace it from a book or a computer screen?

No, it's similar to the paper used to print newspapers. It is not regarded as see-through. in any way For what you're talking about, you'll need tracing paper or vellum.

Is this suitable for quilting foundation piecing?

That is an excellent query. According to Wikipedia, tracing paper or freezer paper, as well as heavier weight papers, are commonly used. The weight of newsprint is in the middle of the two. The paper you use must be able to tear away from the stitching. The texture of newsprint is pleasant. It won't tear as cleanly as freezer paper, but it will leave more paper burrs. It's just a guess on my part. This is the first and only time I've used it for this.

If I put this on top of acid-based paint, it will look like this. Is there any acid in the newsprint that will transfer to free drawing paper?

It takes time for the acid in newsprint to transfer to other papers. I wouldn't recommend it unless it has been sitting for a year.

What I was looking for
5/5

I'm a professional art student, so I'm very particular about small details like paper. I used this pad to draw with charcoal. It's a little rougher than what I was using before, but that's a good thing because it helps hold down the charcoal while still allowing for blending. My drawing board struggles to hold the pad up because it is so large, but I can't complain when I get so much paper for such a low price.

Excellent product! I was a little skeptical after reading the mixed reviews and hearing about the poor condition it was said to arrive in
5/5

I gave it five stars because it's a great paper for the price (it was the cheapest I could find on short notice for my college art class). This paper has a rough surface and I will use it with charcoal pencils, vine charcoal, and compressed charcoal. It came packaged well with no defects (that's what I was skeptical about).

Sam the cat has the ideal "placemats
5/5

" My cat eats on the floor, and I needed something to put there. When he eats canned food, he makes a mess, and I'm sick of cleaning cat food off tile and grout twice a day, 365 days a year. I began by looking at paper placemats, but they were prohibitively expensive. Then I remembered newsprint, which led me to this tablet, which has proven to be extremely useful. Mister cat can drop as much as he wants on the nice big sheets. I simply fold the carnage into the paper and place it in a freezer bag until garbage day.

Quality is adequate, but the packaging is shoddy at best
3/5

The paper was of good quality, but they tore a 100 sheet pad in half to sell it as a 50 sheet pad. As a result, the sheets were not properly bound. As we took it out of the box, the sheets came loose from their binding.

Product that is similar to: The same level of quality; However, unlike chain craft stores, there are no long lines at the checkout
5/5

In my cockatiel's bird cage, I use this product as a cage pan liner. It's just plain old newsprint paper, and it's a lot cheaper than pet store liners. I decided to order it on Amazon Prime after becoming frustrated with mediocre customer service and long lines in checkout lines with a small number of cashiers at craft stores like JoAnn and Michaels. It's virtually the same product, but with a different name, and it's competitively priced, but without the long lines and mediocre customer service that make you feel like you're doing them a favor by shopping in their retail stores. I'll be purchasing this item from Amazon in the future.

This is a fantastic pad
4/5

Newspapers use a particular type of paper for a reason: it is inexpensive to produce. Because it's made of the same material as the other pads, it's a great buy for a beginner artist who wants to practice. Keep in mind, however, that jet-black ink is more expensive. Pencils made of black ebony do not produce a jet black finish. This paper isn't black, but rather a medium dark gray (HEX 666666 or so), so your final product won't be as high-quality as it would be on a thicker artistry paper. The newsprint is of good quality, and the pad appears to be in good condition. Because of the lightweight paper, the book is bound but flimsy, so putting a board behind it is strongly advised. br>br>I recommend this product to new sketchers who need more practice, such as practicing their shapes (which are easily traceable on this paper - see below). Tracing shapes is good muscle memory practice, but only cut-out shapes should be traced. Before attempting them on more presentable surfaces, try out shapes, lines, or object drawings. A more expensive pad with higher-resolution graphics is recommended for more advanced artists. quality paper, as their drawings will be of higher quality, and they will also be more receptive to shape drawings.

Newsprint is not archival and generally of lower quality, so don't plan on using it for your masterpieces
5/5

Switching some of my work to through-color has been incredibly liberating as a beginning art student. get rid of the paper It teaches you to try new things, to try again, and to do things for the sake of doing them, rather than for the sake of posting them on social media. The paper is a light gray in color, which will work well with charcoal and darker pencils.

Your typical large-scale project newsprint pad of the appropriate size The pad arrived quickly, but the top tape binding had already come undone from the cardboard backing, which was far less stiff than I had expected
4/5

Aside from that, it's standard inexpensive newsprint that must be laid out on a table or desk or clipped to a drawing board. It's fine for art studies or rough layouts, but it's not meant for final work.
